Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew heads to Thurles and Newcastle (AW) for his two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, February 13th.
ZANAHIYR didn’t impress in the jumping department when a 17-length runner-up to Fact To File in a beginners’ chase at Leopardstown over Christmas and, while that form has been franked by the winner and a third, he could be worth opposing. Gordon Elliott’s seven-year-old tended to jump out to his left when racing over hurdles and the switch to a right-handed track could cause problems. He actually has a superior record when racing this way round (four from eight, as opposed to one from 13) but two of the four right-handed wins came in Class E races when outclassing his opposition and his tendency to jump out to his left could be exaggerated over fences. Sell at 24 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Oppose ZANAHIYR in Thurles 1.33
PALLAS LORD will be popular for this 7f apprentice handicap having won well over 1m under Jason Hart here last week, but he raced keenly that day and is perhaps not the ideal ride for an inexperienced pilot. He won twice under 7lb claimer Ryan Sexton in early 2022 but his last eight outings when ridden by a jockey who claimed an allowance have ended in defeat, with the last three coming here at Newcastle at short odds (evens, 11-8 and 9-4). He could end up going off too hard under Archie Young (yet to wide a winner here from 13 goes) if taken on for the lead by Possible Ambition and can be sold in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Oppose PALLAS LORD in Newcastle 4.58
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
