Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew heads to the Flat action at Haydock and Pontefract for his two recommended bets/trades on Friday, July 19th.
YOUNG FIRE, though an 11-time winner (from 98 career starts), has been having difficulty getting his head in front of late, and Monday’s half-length third at Ayr moved his current losing run to 18 races. However, David O’Meara’s nine-year-old was a comfortable two-length winner on his latest visit to Haydock, scene of four of his previous victories, and the likely decent gallop in this apprentice handicap will suit his come-from-behind running style. Buy at 26 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (7-4).
Recommendation: Back YOUNG FIRE in Haydock 2.05
ARECIBO probably won’t win this 5f handicap, but this consistent sort often hits the frame and can be forgiven his last time out eighth of 11 at Chester as he had a tricky draw in stall 7 and was always playing catch-up after missing a beat at the start. Aside from that effort, he’s had only two runs on left-handed tracks in handicap company, running second on the Polytrack at Lingfield and filling the same position over today’s track and trip when rated 103 and doing best of those to come from off the pace in a Class 2 contest won by Live In The Dream, subsequently successful in Group 1 company. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (each-way).
Recommendation: Back ARECIBO in Pontefract 7.55
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
