Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew made a good profit with his buy of DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER in Ascot’s 3.45 yesterday and he has three recommended bets/trades on day 3 of the Royal meeting (Thursday, June 20th).
It has not been easy to win the King George V Handicap from a low draw and, in the past ten years, only the brilliant Hukum has prevailed from stall 5 or lower (from 50 runners). The winner of this 1m4f contest often comes with a late rattle out wide and the first four home in last year’s renewal were berthed in stalls 21, 8, 16 and 22. My shortlist comprises of GOING THE DISTANCE (stall 18), GALLANTLY (stall 15) and FOURONEOHFEVER (stall 13) and the best way to side with this trio is to buy DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER with Spreadex.
Recommendation: Buy DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER in Ascot 3.05
I’ve no strong opinion in the Ribblesdale Stakes but there’s an interesting stat in recent renewals concerning the sire’s country of breeding. Nine of last ten winners were Irish-bred (from 66 qualifiers) and backing them all would have returned a small profit (£2.96) to a £1 level stake at SP. Those trained by Aidan O’Brien or the Gosdens were seven from 27 in the same period (+£32.70) and it could be worth firing arrows at the two qualifiers today – RUBIES ARE RED, who looked ill at ease on the undulating track when a close second in the Lingfield Oaks Trial before her flop at Epsom, and Lingfield maiden winner QUEENS FORT, who is open to further improvement on only her third career start. Buy the pair in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market.
Recommendation: Back RUBIES ARE RED and QUEENS FORT in Ascot 3.45
The GoingStick suggests that the ground is marginally quicker on the stands’ side (high draws) at Ascot and that certainly looked the case in yesterday’s finale when the first six came from stalls 27, 26, 22, 16, 17 and 28. The complication with the concluding Buckingham Palace Stakes today is that all the early pace is low (from stalls 1, 2 and 3) or middle (stall 15) but WILLIAM BUICK will be alive to this on MAKE ME A KING (stall 32) and I expect him to be prominent in the first-time cheekpieces. His comeback 28-1 ninth of 15 at Newmarket would have been needed after a spell in Dubai and the fast ground will suit. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back MAKE ME A KING in Ascot 6.15
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
