Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew heads to the Listed race at Ayr and Kempton (all-weather) for his two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, May 22nd.
HEARTACHE TONIGHT was put in as the 5-2 favourite with the first firm to price up the 1m2f Listed Rothesay Stakes but David Menusier’s four-year-old looks plenty short enough. The daughter of Recorder has lost five in a row since her Longchamp debut success on officially heavy ground back in October 2022 and, while she’ll appreciate the drop down to Listed from Group 2 level, the quick ground might not be ideal. The interesting one is Irish raider ALANYA, who will enjoy the good to firm, good in places, going. She was a big eyecatcher on good ground in a Curragh Listed contest last August, doing best of the closers in a 12-1 third of 14 and can be forgiven her two subsequent defeats – she was outclassed when a 28-1 tenth of 11 in Group 2 company the following month and hated the heavy ground when fifth of seven at Naas on her reappearance. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back ALANYA in Ayr 3.20
BOTAS was a big eyecatcher at Nottingham last October, doing best of the prominent racers when fourth in a soft-ground 1m handicap run to suit the closers. The first three were described by the Racing Post as ‘held up in rear’, ‘towards rear’ and ‘midfield’, while the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth all came from midfield or further back. Botas (‘raced in second, led over 2f out’) did really well to finish just over three lengths behind the winner and will come on for his recent reappearance when a 25-1 seventh of 14 (beaten by six lengths after a wide trip) over tonight’s course and distance. He’s better berthed in stall 6 of 13 tonight and can be bought in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market.
Recommendation: Back BOTAS In Kempton 6.00
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
