Daily Spread Betting Round-up
There was plenty of online betting action over a busy weekend for our traders and we have picked out three big winning bets, starting in Rotterdam.
Please remember spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.
EXCELSIOR v TWENTE - TWE/ECX SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT 9)
Halloween may have been on Saturday night, but the Excelsior defence endured a horror show on Sunday as they were beaten 9-0 at home by FC Twente. Nesto Groen saw red for the hosts after just five minutes, and from there it was an onslaught. Former Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst helped himself to four goals with a first half hat-trick helping put Twente 5-0 up at the break.
The visitors added four goals in the second half as they moved up to fourth in the table and it was also a good day for buyers on the Supremacy spread. Before kick-off in Rotterdam, the market was available to trade at 1.1-1.3, but with the final makeup being nine, buyers won 7.7x their stake. A big winning beg on a low volatility market
LEBANON v FRANCE - LEB/FRA SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT 0)
Another Supremacy spread, but this time coming from Western Sydney, where France nearly pulled off an almighty shock to beat Lebanon in the Rugby League World Cup. The Cedars were as short as 1/100 before kick-off and the Supremacy was massively in favour of the Lebanese with the market available to trade at 30-33.
However, a remarkable game unfolded in Parramatta, with France putting in a real display of grit and determination. They thought they had won it late in normal time, only for a no try decision to be given with Lebanon adjudged to have grounded the ball in their own in-goal area. With seconds left on the clock, the resultant drop out landed in the hands of Arthur Mourgue, who steadied himself and knocked over a two-point drop goal.
In golden point, the French thought they had it won with a drop goal, only for the bunker to disallow it for an escort. French hearts were then broken when Lebanon scored a try off a charged down kick from Mourgue. Whilst it was disappointment for the French, there was no disappointment for sellers on the Supremacy. With it being an 80 minute only market, a level game saw the spread settle at zero as sellers landed a win of 30x their stake. Seller son the much more volatile Winning Margin x Total Points won a whopping 2019x their stake!
KEENELAND 31st OCTOBER - SP LENGTHS (SETTLED AT 30/43)
The Breeders’ Cup took place over the weekend and Saturday saw plenty of short price favourites land the spoils. Five of the first six winners on the day were priced at 2/1 or under, before Kathynmarissa won the Filly and Mare Turf at 13/2, with Andrew Balding’s Blue Bolt finishing 11th having been sent off the even money favourite. There was another
shock in the Breeders’ Cup Mile where Notable Speech was beaten at 8/11, but with just three winners priced bigger than 3/1, it was a great day to be a seller on SP Lengths.
Before the card began, the market could be traded at 126-141. Eventually settling at just 30.43, sellers won 95.57x their stake.
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
