Daily Spread Betting Round-up
In a weekend in which the Premier League title race took another twist, we review where the big wining bets were in our spread betting markets.
Saturday saw another round of Cheltenham trials at the picturesque Cotswold course and the International Hurdle was one of a host of Grade 2 races on the card.
Billed as a match between Sir Gino and The New Lion (although in fairness the former was a fairly big favourite), it was the latter who got the job done. Sir Gino backers would have had their heads in their hands as he was pulled up after jumping the third from home.
Having been such a big favourite before the race (39-42 on our Race Index spread), it was sellers who came out on top as Sir Gino’s failure to finish saw the market settle at zero, with sellers winning 39x their stake.
Thankfully for racing fans, Nicky Henderson confirmed on Saturday evening that Sir Gino was ‘comfortable and stable’ having suffered a fractured pelvis during the race.
Exeter hosted Bristol on Saturday and it was one for the purists as the Bears secured an 8-3 win on the road to leapfrog the Chiefs in the table.
The match was marred by torrential rain throughout with handling errors from both sides leading to a stop-start affair. With going through the hands ruled out as a viable option, both sides leaned on their kicking game to get them up the field as the Bears secured their eighth win in their last nine matches.
With Noah Heward (shirt number 14) scoring the only try of the game, there was always likely to be a big win for sellers on our Shirts x Bookings spread at 1084 -1302 before kick-off.
However, in filthy conditions, this was the cleanest game of the round, with not a single booking, leaving sellers to collect a big winning bet of 1084x their stake.
We round off our big winning bets column with a trip to Scotland for a match that had everything.
Aberdeen came from behind to win 6-2 and end a run of six Premiership games without a win as Livingston remain bottom on a winless run of 23 games. The Dons were 3-2 up at half-time, before seeing Jack Milne tangle with Livi substitute Jeremy Bokila with both sides seeing red.
With the match now a game of ten-a-side, Aberdeen capitalised in the extra space to score three further goals in the last 15 minutes of the game. Before kick-off at Pittodrie, the Goals Cubed spread was 46-53, but with the market settling at 512, buyers landed a big winning bet of 459x their stake.
