While not necessarily the most eye-catching draw, a potentially sizeable scalp is in the offing when Lincoln City host Ipswich Town in their FA Cup 3rd round replay, at 7.45pm on BBC One. Despite the gulf in their ostensible quality – Ipswich are in the Championship, Lincoln in the National League – it was the Imps that can feel unlucky to be forced to Tuesday’s replay, something Tractor Boys’ manager Mick McCarthy admitted in his post-game interview. Twice the minnows led in the first attempt at this fixture. Theo Robinson (who has a Super Mega PGM spread of 12-16) opened the scoring in the 7th minute, before Tom Lawrence (at 19-23) equalised for the hosts 5 minutes later; Robinson then got his second in the 65th minute, only for Lawrence to nab his own brace with an 86th minute leveller. Ipswich are in the midst of a thoroughly middling season, one that leaves then in 14th place in the Championship. That’s effectively safe from relegation – there is a 10 point game between Ipswich and 22nd place Blackburn, who they actually beat 3-2 on Saturday with another brace for Lawrence – but a likely insurmountable 11 point deficit between them and the lower play-off spots. Lincoln, on the other hand, are on track to return to League Two. They are 2 points clear at the top of the National League, but with a game in hand, and have lost just once in their last 19 matches in all competitions. Yet despite their divergent form, and the fact that the Imps were the better side a couple of weeks ago, it is hard to see the Championship side messing up again, with Spreadex offering an Ipswich/Lincoln (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95.
