The Hero Dubai Desert Classic is the first Rolex Series event on the DP World Tour calendar. It takes place from Thursday 22 January to Sunday 25 January 2026 on the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, UAE.
The total prize pool is $9 million, with the winner expected to take home just over $1.5 million.
Past winners of the event include Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Seve Ballesteros, Bryson DeChambeau, and defending champion Tyrrell Hatton.
The Race to Dubai is a season-long competition on the DP World Tour, where players aim to finish inside the top 50 to secure a place at the DP World Tour Championship, held on the Earth Course in Dubai at the end of the golfing calendar.
The Race to Dubai functions as a leaderboard, with players ranked based on the number of points they accumulate throughout the season. Each DP World Tour event awards Race to Dubai points, with winners of standard events receiving approximately 500 points. Rolex Series events award significantly more, with around 3,000 points going to the winner.
Rory McIlroy has won the Race to Dubai on multiple occasions, with other notable winners including Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Lee Westwood, and Collin Morikawa.
The DP World Tour was founded in 1972 and was formerly known as the European Tour. It hosts professional golf tournaments across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
The tour operates alongside the PGA Tour, and many players compete in events on both tours throughout the season.
The DP World Tour season begins in late November, shortly after the season finale in Dubai. Although the season starts in November, the first Rolex Series event does not take place until January, with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

These Rolex Series events offer prize funds of approximately $8–10 million, while also awarding the highest number of Race to Dubai points and World Ranking points.
