Ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season we used our FPL Points spread betting market to try and help with the age-old dilemma of which players should feature in your FPL starting squad. We’re looking back at our pre-season FPL predictions to see how accurate they were.

FPL MIDFIELDER POINTS

midfielders

Mohamed Salah FPL POINTS

Salah has been a stalwart of FPL teams throughout his incredible Premier League career, but the Egyptian has failed to reach his usual dizzying heights this season. The Liverpool legend has just seven goal involvements in the league so far and has even found himself benched in recent matches, much to his frustration. Salah is currently sitting on 64 FPL points, but to be on course to hit his pre-season points projection of 224–236, he would need to be on 127 points at this stage of the campaign.

Cole Palmer FPL POINTS

After two outstanding seasons at Chelsea, Palmer’s third has been disrupted by injury, limiting him to just 11 league appearances. The midfielder has scored only three goals this season, resulting in a modest 36 FPL points so far. To be on track for his hefty pre-season projection of 206–218 points, Palmer would currently need to be on 117 points, highlighting just how far behind pace he is.

Bukayo Saka FPL POINTS

Saka has once again been a key figure for Arsenal as they lead the Premier League this season, but his attacking output has been slightly lower than expected. The England international has recorded nine goal involvements, contributing to a total of 98 FPL points. If Saka were on course to meet his pre-season projection of 189–199 points, he would currently be sitting on 107 points.

Bruno Fernandes FPL POINTS

Fernandes has operated in a deeper role for Manchester United this season, but this positional shift has not hindered his productivity. The Portuguese midfielder has scored five goals and provided eight assists, leaving him on 107 FPL points. This total is actually slightly above the 103 points he would need at this stage to remain on track for his pre-season projection of 182–192 points.

Florian Wirtz FPL POINTS

Wirtz arrived in the Premier League amid huge expectations following his £116 million transfer, but the German has struggled to adapt and is widely considered one of the signings of the season. While his form has improved slightly in recent weeks, he has managed just two goals and two assists all season, accumulating only 71 FPL points. As a result, Wirtz is well off the pace needed to reach his pre-season projection of 173–183 points.

Morgan Rogers FPL POINTS

Rogers has arguably been one of the standout performers of the season, playing a crucial role in Aston Villa’s surge to second place in the league. The Englishman has registered seven goals and four assists, already amassing an impressive 101 FPL points. To be on target for his pre-season projection of 148–158 points, he would have needed just 85 points by now, meaning he is significantly ahead of schedule.

Omar Marmoush FPL POINTS

After a promising debut Premier League season, both Manchester City and FPL managers had high hopes for Marmoush. However, the Egyptian has been one of the biggest underperformers this campaign, registering just 16 FPL points so far. With a pre-season projection of 149–159 points, Marmoush is a long way off the pace and would need to be on 85 points at this stage to remain on track.

Anthony Gordon FPL POINTS

Gordon has endured a disappointing season by his own high standards, managing just two league goals so far. This lack of attacking returns has left the winger on 50 FPL points, which is 35 points below the total he would need to be on course for his pre-season projection of 148–158 points.

Matheus Cunha FPL POINTS

While Cunha made a promising start to life at Manchester United, he has struggled to deliver consistent high FPL returns. The Brazilian has accumulated 66 FPL points so far, leaving him 14 points behind the total required to stay on track for his pre-season projection of 139–149 points.

Bryan Mbeumo FPL POINTS

Finally, Mbeumo has scored six goals in 16 league appearances this season. The forward has registered 74 FPL points, leaving him just short of the 77 points he would need to be on pace for his pre-season projection of 135–145 points. However, when

Erling Haaland FPL POINTS

Haaland has once again underlined why he is the gold standard for FPL forwards. With a pre-season projection of 200–212 points, the Manchester City striker would need to be on 114 FPL points after 21 games to remain on course. Sitting on a huge 163 points, Haaland is massively ahead of schedule and is outperforming even his already lofty expectations, putting him on track for another extraordinary FPL campaign.

Viktor Gyökeres FPL POINTS

Gyökeres arrived with considerable hype, but his first Premier League campaign has not gone to plan from an FPL perspective. To be on pace for his pre-season projection of 169–179 points, he would need to have accumulated 96 points by now. With just 54 FPL points, Gyökeres is well behind the required pace and will need a dramatic upturn in form to salvage his predicted total.

Ollie Watkins FPL POINTS

Watkins has once again delivered solid, if unspectacular, FPL returns for Aston Villa. With a projected points range of 156–166, he would need to be on 89 points after 21 games to stay on track. Currently sitting on 81 FPL points, Watkins is slightly behind pace but remains close enough that a strong run of fixtures could quickly bring him back in line with expectations.

Jarrod Bowen FPL POINTS

Bowen has been a reliable source of returns for West Ham and continues to justify his popularity among FPL managers. To remain on course for his pre-season projection of 153–163 points, Bowen would need 87 points at this stage. With 90 FPL points, he is marginally ahead of pace and well positioned to meet or exceed his predicted total if his form continues.

Dominic Solanke FPL POINTS

Solanke has endured a disastrous season from an FPL perspective. With a pre-season projection of 149–159 points, he would need to be on 85 FPL points by now to stay on track. However, with just 2 FPL points to his name, Solanke is one of the biggest underperformers in the game and is effectively out of contention to reach his predicted total.

João Pedro FPL POINTS

João Pedro has quietly delivered a strong season and proven to be excellent value in FPL. To remain on pace for his projected range of 139–149 points, he would need 80 points after 21 games. Currently sitting on 84 FPL points, João Pedro is slightly ahead of schedule and looks well placed to outperform his pre-season expectations if he maintains his role and minutes.

Chris Wood FPL POINTS

Wood’s season has been frustrating from an FPL standpoint, with limited returns despite occasional attacking involvement. To be on course for his projected total of 139–149 points, he would need 80 FPL points by now. With only 25 FPL points, Wood is significantly behind pace and would require an unlikely second-half surge to approach his predicted total.

Jean-Philippe Mateta FPL POINTS

Mateta has performed almost exactly in line with expectations this season. With a pre-season projection of 140–150 points, he would need to be on 80 FPL points at this stage. Currently sitting on 80 FPL points, the Crystal Palace forward is perfectly on pace and remains a steady, if unspectacular, FPL option.

Jørgen Strand Larsen FPL POINTS

Strand Larsen has struggled to make a consistent impact in his debut Premier League season. To stay on track for his pre-season projection of 132–142 points, he would need 76 FPL points by now. With just 36 FPL points, he is well off the required pace and will need a significant turnaround to come close to his projected total.

Evanilson FPL POINTS

Evanilson has shown flashes of quality but has lacked the consistency needed to truly thrive in FPL. To be on pace for his pre-season projection of 131–141 points, he would need 75 FPL points at this point of the season. Sitting on 62 FPL points, Evanilson is behind schedule but still within touching distance if he can find a sustained run of form.
