Read on for the Spreadex preview, including key stats, information and betting odds for the UK Championship.

When is the UK Championship?

The main stage of the tournament runs from November 29th to December 7th. Qualifying rounds will also take place from November 22-27 to determine the final field for the competition.

Where is the UK Championship?

York Barbican – the intimate venue has been home of the UK Championship since 2011, first hosting the tournament in 2001.

Who is the reigning champion?

Judd Trump – the “Ace in the Pack” triumphed over Barry Hawkins in a dramatic final back in 2024, winning 10-8.

Who are the favourites for this year’s tournament?

Last year’s champion Judd Trump is the current favourite to win the tournament. You can back him at 4/1 in the Spreadex fixed odds markets to regain his UK Championship crown. Trump was unplayable in last year’s edition, racking up 11 century breaks en route to victory, and has been in solid form to start the 2025 season.

World Champion Zhao Xintong is also among the favourites, with the Chinese star currently sat at 11/2 to win a maiden UK Championship title. The legendary Ronnie O’Sullivan will also be looking to win what would be his 9th UK Championship crown this December. The “Rocket” is priced at 6/1 to win a staggering 24th Triple Crown title.

Other players expected to be in the running include Mark Selby at 8/1, John Higgins at 16/1, Ding Junhui at 20/1, and many more. You can find our outright winner market live now on the Spreadex website, with a variety of other fixed odds and spread betting markets set to be released closer to the tournament’s start date.

What is the tournament format?

The top 16 players in the world automatically qualify for the main stage of the tournament, with the remaining spots decided via a lengthy qualifying process. Players ranked 17-144 in the world play in up to four qualifying rounds, with higher ranked players entering later in the process. The winners of the 16 games in the final qualifying round join the top 16 seeds in the first round of the tournament proper.

All matches, including all qualifying rounds, will be best of 11 frames, except the final which will be best of 19 frames.

What is the prize money for the UK Championship?

The total purse for the tournament comes in at just over £1.2 million. The winner will receive £250,000, with the runner-up taking home £100,000. There is also a £15,000 prize for the highest break of the tournament.
