Can Liverpool keep their spot at the top of the table with a win over Man United, at 4pm on Sky Sports? With Man City losing to Chelsea, the Reds are now the sole side in the Premier League yet to be beaten. And while they haven’t taken over the defending champions in terms of goals scored, they still have the league’s stingiest defence, conceding a truly miserly 6 in 16 games. In contrast, United have so far let in 20 more than that. Though they haven’t tasted defeat domestically – well, aside from their 3rd round EFL Cup exit – there is a pattern to the kind of sides Liverpool have failed to beat. Their only properly top tier win came against Tottenham in mid-September; since then they’ve shared the spoils against Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. And that’s not to mention their form in Europe, where they lost all 3 Champions League group stage away games to Napoli, Red Star Belgrade and PSG. Granted, anyway you slice it they are doing better than United. A whopping 16 points currently separates the league-leading Reds and Jose Mourinho’s miserable lot, who are coming off a 2-1 loss in Valencia that prevented them topping their Champions League group. They also have something of an ill-timed injury crisis. Alexis Sanchez is definitely out, Marcos Rojos, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian, Luka Shaw, Diogo Salot and Victor Lindelof all have knocks that may prevent them from appearing, while Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay need to be assessed. Factor in Mohamed Salah’s accelerating form and Jurgen Klopp won’t be too worried about Sunday’s fixture, with Spreadex offering a Liverpool/Man United Goal Supremacy spread of 1.05-1.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.85-3.05.
