Can Tottenham avoid a Champions League-threatening wobble when they host Watford, at 8pm on Sky Sports?

Spurs have seriously gone off the boil in the last couple of weeks, and risk ending their season on something of a damp note. A 3-1 defeat at home to Man City helped contribute to the now-champions’ Premier League-winning weekend, while Tottenham were held to a draw at Brighton a week later. Most damningly they lost their FA Cup semi-final to Manchester United, ending Maurico Pochettino’s hopes of securing a piece of 2017/18 silverware.



Now that Chelsea have bucked their ideas up, Tottenham could potentially slip out of the top 4 if their downward trajectory continues. Spurs are currently in 4th place, just 2 points ahead of the Blues but with a game in hand.

Alternatively, if things do improve over the next couple of weeks then Tottenham might be able to shift into 3rd, given they are only 4 points behind Liverpool with 2 more games to play than the Reds. Given that Chelsea and Liverpool play each other on Sunday, how Spurs fare on Monday night could play an important role in the exact formulation of the league’s European entrants next season.

Tottenham’s relatively kind run-in – after Watford they face West Brom, Newcastle and Leicester – could do with an improvement from Harry Kane. Kane hasn’t been at its best since returning in April, but could make a late challenge to kick the Premier League Golden Boot from the hands of Mohamed Salah. The English forward is on 26 goals to the Egyptian’s 31 with double the amount of games to go, and has a sizeable Super Mega PGM 95-110.

As for Watford, now that they are basically safe from relegation – it would take a very unfortunate confluence of events to send the Hornets down at this point in the season – Javi Garcia and co. don’t have much more to play for. They’ve really struggled in the last couple of months, losing to Arsenal, Liverpool, Burnley and Huddersfield while drawing against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

The Hornets have wilted in the face of top tier opposition recently, conceding 8 goals total against Arsenal and Liverpool without a response, so Spurs shouldn’t have too many problems on Monday, with Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Watford Goal Supremacy spread of 2.2-2.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.4-3.6.
