Aston Villa v Chelsea Betting Form
A disappointing loss to bottom-placed Wolves moved Villa as low as fourth place in the Premier League table for the first time in months. Unai Emery’s side were in electric form at the end of 2025, but have struggled to find similar performances in 2026. With sixth placed Chelsea coming to town on Wednesday, the fight for European qualification is truly hotting up, and Villa need to find their feet if they are to stay in a Champions League spot. Can they bounce back in this one?

Chelsea also head into Wednesday’s fixture on a poor run of form, without a win in three league matches. Liam Rosenior’s managerial tenure started with some great results, but disappointing draws against Burnley and Leeds, and a loss to rivals Arsenal leaves the Blues in sixth place and three points short of a Champions League qualification spot. They have a chance to close the gap on Villa on Wednesday and need to capitalise if they are to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

The two sides head into this match on similar form and close together in the league table, and this is reflected in the fixed odds betting prices. Visitors Chelsea are slight favourites at 7/5 to win the match, or at 5/4 in our 2 Up market which pays out if your team goes up by two goals during the match. Hosts Villa are priced similarly at 7/4 to claim the three points or at 31/20 in our 2 Up market. If you’re expecting a close-run affair, you can back a draw at 13/5.

Spreadex also has a number of spread betting markets for Wednesday’s clash. Our “Goal Supremacy” market again has the two sides almost inseparable, with Chelsea narrowly favoured by 0-0.2 goals. This means if you expect Chelsea to win, you can “buy” and if you expect Villa to win, you can “sell”.
Our popular “Total Goals” market is currently set at 2.9-3.1. This is for the total number of goals scored in the match by both teams. If you’re expecting a high-scoring game, you can “buy” on this market. You would then need at least four goals in the game to turn a profit, with this winning 0.9x your stake, a five-goal game winning 1.9x your stake, and so on. However, if there were three goals or fewer in the match, you would lose money, with a goalless draw losing you 3.1x your stake.
If you expect a lower-scoring affair, you would “sell”. In this case, you would need two goals or fewer to turn a profit. A 0-0 draw would win you 2.9 times your stake if you sold, but if we saw a high-scoring 4-3 result, you would lose 4.1 times your stake. It’s important to remember that when spread betting, if your bet loses, you can lose multiples of your stake, so be sure to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.

We will have Price Boosts available closer to kick-off time and have a range of Popular Bet-Builders assembled by our pricing team live now on the Spreadex website. The last time these sides met in the Premier League saw Villa claim a 2-1 victory with Ollie Watkins on fine form for the Villans. You can back Villa to win again, and for there to be over 2.5 match goals at 14/5 if you’re expecting a similar match on Wednesday.
