The Nations Championship is a new international tournament held once every two years. It features 12 of the best teams in the world, with each team split into groups of six depending on their hemisphere*.
Northern Hemisphere – England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Wales
Southern Hemisphere – Argentina, Australia, Fiji, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa
Each team plays every side from the opposite hemisphere once, with three fixtures in the summer all played in the southern hemisphere, and the remaining three taking place in Autumn in the northern hemisphere. Each side is then ranked within their hemisphere and paired against their equivalent position in the other group during Finals Weekend at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, from 27–29 November.
The first-placed teams from each hemisphere meet in the Grand Final, while the remaining positions are decided through five additional cross-hemisphere matches.
In addition to deciding the Nations Championship winner, the Finals Weekend also determines the winning hemisphere. One point is awarded for each of the five placement matches, with two points available for the Grand Final. The first hemisphere to reach four points wins the Hemisphere Challenge.
*note that Japan represent the southern hemisphere despite being in the northern hemisphere geographically.
The November schedule features several mouth-watering international contests, with the world’s best players ready to do battle. We’ve highlighted some standouts below.
England v New Zealand – 21 November, 2:10pm
Always one of the biggest fixtures in World Rugby, England will host the All Blacks in the final round. England won this fixture in 2025, but New Zealand’s historical dominance and recent resurgence in form will likely see them head to Twickenham as favourites.
France v South Africa – 13 November, 8:10pm
Arguably the two best teams in the world will face off in Paris for a huge clash on 13 November. France have established themselves as the strongest side in the northern hemisphere, whilst the Springboks have dominated world rugby for almost a decade. This could well be a preview of the competition’s Grand Final.
Ireland v South Africa – 21 November, 4:40pm
Ireland's clash with South Africa at the Aviva Stadium is another major attraction. The two sides have developed a fierce rivalry in recent years, with Ireland the only team in world rugby to have a positive record against the Boks this decade. Can they keep up their impressive record?
When are the Autumn Internationals 2026?6th November – 29th November 2026.
What is the Nations Championship? The Nations Championship is a biennial tournament featuring 12 nations from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Teams play six matches across the July and November international windows, with their results determining their rankings and Finals Weekend opponents.
Where is the Nations Championship final?Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit so it's important you understand how each market works before setting an appropriate stake size for your bet.
