Spreadex Sports previews the upcoming 2025/26 Champions League fixture between Chelsea and Ajax. Who will come out on top in West London?
When is Chelsea v Ajax? Wednesday, October 22nd 2025.
What time is kick-off for Chelsea v Ajax?8pm, UK time.
Where is Chelsea v Ajax being played? Stamford Bridge, London.
How can I watch Chelsea v Ajax? Live on TNT Sports 2 from 8pm.
Chelsea’s start to the 2025–26 season has been a mixed bag so far with a fair share of highs and lows, but Enzo Maresca's side seem to be on the up after three consecutive victories, including their Champions League opener against Benfica and a home win in the league over Liverpool. Can they continue their form and keep on an upward trajectory here?
Ajax, meanwhile, are in the midst of a crisis of form with just one win in their last six matches, which has included a poor home loss in the league to AZ Alkmaar, a high-scoring draw with underdogs Sparta Rotterdam and a demolition at the hands of Marseille in their Champions League opener. There seem to be serious defensive issues for the Dutch giants and Chelsea will no doubt be eager to exploit them at Stamford Bridge. Can the Amsterdam side stop the rot?

Chelsea are the favourites to get all three points in this fixture, priced at 2/9 on Spreadex’s fixed odds market (1/5 on our 2 Up early payout Match Odds market) with visitors Ajax priced at 9/1 (8/1 on the 2 Up early payout market) and the draw at 11/2.
There have only been three meetings between these two sides, and two of those came in this competition in the 2019/20 season. Chelsea grabbed a 1-0 away win in Amsterdam, but the Stamford Bridge clash ended in a crazy 4-4 draw which saw two own goals, two penalties, two red cards and a disallowed goal!
Will anything similar occur in this one?
In the previous 4-4 meeting between these sides, our multi-markets took centre-stage. For example, with the Goals x Corners x Bookings market, 8 total goals, 9 corners and 100 booking points meant a massive make-up of 7,200. This market has a starting spread of 1,500 - 1,650 here, meaning a repeat of that make-up would mean a return of 5,550x your original stake! However, always be wary of the volatility, as if the market was to make up at 0, you would lose 1,500x your original stake.
Our football spread betting prices have hosts Chelsea as the favourites with a Goal Supremacy quote of Chelsea/Ajax 1.9 – 2.1. This means a 'buy' bet at 2.1 would need Chelsea to win by three goals to start turning a profit (e.g. three goal win would win 0.9x your stake, four goal win would win 1.9x your stake etc.).
A 1.9 'sell' bet would need either a draw or single goal win to turn a profit (e.g. a draw would win 1.9x your stake, one goal Chelsea win would be 0.9x your stake etc).
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 3.55 – 3.75. So a 3.75 'buy' bet would need at least four goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 3.55 ‘sell’ bet would need three goals or less to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 3.75 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 3.75x your stake if the match ended 0-0. In the 2.1 'buy' Supremacy bet example above, if the game ended a draw the bet would lose 2.1x your stake. If Ajax won by one goal then it would lose 3.1x your stake etc.
Price Boosts are typically available on the Spreadex website the day before the game, so it’s worth checking back closer to kick-off for enhanced odds. In addition, Spreadex also features ‘Popular Bet-Builders’, specially curated by their in-house pricing team to highlight fan-favourite betting combinations.
Chelsea have played once at Stamford Bridge so far this season in the Champions League and secured a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Benfica, showcasing a solid defensive record on home turf. The question now is whether they can repeat the trick against Ajax. Our spread for Ajax Total Goal Minutes is set at 38 – 46, meaning if Chelsea keep another clean sheet, a ‘sell’ at 38 would return 38x your stake.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. So for example if Ajax scored four goals in the 2nd, 20th, 35th and 55th minute as they did on their last visit to Stamford Bridge (meaning a make-up of 114), a ‘sell’ at 38 would lose 76x times your stake.
Spreadex offers a wide range of football spread betting prices on Chelsea v Ajax, as well as traditional sportsbook/fixed odds prices.
Some of these markets include options such as Player Goal Minutes (the aggregate minutes of the goals scored by a named player in a match), Shirt Numbers (the aggregate of the shirt numbers of all goalscorers in a match), Bookings Points (based on 10 points per yellow, 25 per red), Corners, Team Leading Minutes, Match Performance and many, many more.
