Spreadex Sports previews the upcoming 2025/26 EFL Cup semi-final 1st leg fixture between Chelsea and Arsenal. The London rivals will both be keen to secure an advantage and move closer to securing their place at Wembley and give themselves a chance of at least one domestic trophy this season.
Chelsea and new boss Liam Rosenior will look to make home advantage count, but Premier League leaders Arsenal are in ominous form and Mikel Arteta will be confident of moving closer to a first trophy at the Gunners' helm.
Who will come out on top in West London?
When is Chelsea v Arsenal?Wednesday, January 14th 2026.
What time is kick-off for Chelsea v Arsenal?8pm, UK time.
Where is Chelsea v Arsenal being played? Stamford Bridge, London.
How can I watch Chelsea v Arsenal? Live on Sky Sports Main Event from 8pm.
Chelsea come into this one off the back of an impressive 5-1 victory in the FA Cup against Charlton last time out in new gaffer Liam Rosenior's debut, but before that came a five match winless run with three draws and two defeats. Under new stewardship, will the Blues kick on for the rest of the campaign?
Arsenal, meanwhile, overcame a slight blip in their season when they were defeated by Aston Villa at Villa Park in early December and have since then won eight and drawn one of their fixtures. That run has seen them extend their lead at the top of the Premier League, currently top the Champions League standings, and progress in the FA Cup. Will they continue that in the EFL Cup here?

The Spreadex Sports fixed odds Match Odds betting prices have Arsenal as 6/5 favourites to secure an away victory while our 2 Up early pay out market, which pays out when a team goes two goals up, has the Gunners at 11/10.
Chelsea meanwhile are available at 23/10 for the home victory (21/10 on our 2 Up market), with the draw at 12/5.
Arsenal have performed far better in this H2H in recent times, with the last ten meetings in all competitions seeing the Gunners win six, Chelsea win just one, and three draws. The last three meetings have been tightly contested, with two draws and no more than two goals scored in those matches. You can back Under 2.5 Goals here at 5/2.
Three of the last five meetings have seen Both Teams Scoring, and you can back Both to Score - Yes at 8/11 here. Both to Score - No is available at 23/20.
Our football spread betting prices have the Goal Supremacy as Arsenal/Chelsea 0.2 - 0.4. This means if Arsenal won 3-1 (or by any other two goal margin), a 'buy' bet at 0.4 would mean a return of 1.6x your initial stake.
However, if you bought at 0.4 in Arsenal's favour and the match ended goalless, you would lose 0.4x your stake. Or, if Chelsea were to grab a 1-0 (or any other one goal margin) win, the market would settle negatively at -1 and a buy at 0.4 would result in a loss of 1.4x your opening stake.
You can calculate various make-ups by using our handy spread betting calculator, found here.
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 2.7 - 2.9. So a 2.9 'buy' bet would need at least three goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 2.7 sell bet would need less than three goals to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 2.9 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 2.9x your opening stake if the match ended 0-0, and so on.
