The ICC Champions Trophy is an international One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It features the world’s top-ranked national teams competing in a short, high-intensity event. Because it involves fewer teams than the Cricket World Cup and has a tighter schedule, it’s often called the “Mini World Cup.”
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy was held from 19 February to 9 March 2025 in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, featuring eight of the world’s top ODI teams. The tournament followed a group stage and knockout format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. In the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets to win their third Champions Trophy title, finishing the tournament unbeaten.
In its most recent editions, 8 teams took part. Earlier versions had more teams, but the ICC later limited it to the top eight sides to make the tournament more competitive and compact.
Qualification is based on the ICC ODI team rankings.
Typically, the 8 teams are divided into:
2025 – India
2017 – Pakistan
2013 – India
2009 – Australia
2006 – Australia
The next ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled for 2029 according to the current ICC event cycle. The 2025 tournament ran from 19 February to 9 March 2025, and the following Champions Trophy is listed for 2029 on official records.
The next tournament is due to be hosted by India with venues being confirmed closer to the tournament getting underway.
Odds for the competition will be released on the Spreadex site and app closer to the event.
