Leeds will fancy their chances of a win tonight when they entertain Sunderland under the lights at Elland Road. The Whites have a great record in night games at home and with Sunderland struggling on the road so far this season, this could be a game where United take a big stride towards safety.
They were unlucky to come away from Saturday’s match with a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City in a fractious match, but their composure in front of goal let them down, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin particularly guilty of squandering a great chance in the opening stages.
These two met at Elland Road at a similar stage of the season last year and it was Leeds who prevailed on that occasion courtesy of a Pascal Struijk header in the 95th minute. Leeds fans would surely settle for a similar outcome this time around.
LEEDS RECENT FORM
LOSS: Leeds 0-1 Manchester City. Saturday 28th February 2026.DRAW: Aston Villa 1-1 Leeds. Saturday 21st February 2026.WIN: Birmingham City 1-1 Leeds (AET – Leeds won on penalties). Sunday 15th February 2026.
Sunderland have undeniably had a brilliant season so far, but they have been drifting a little bit in recent weeks and with the Black Cats all but certain to avoid the drop, there is a feeling that Regis Le Bris’ side could be coasting towards the end of the season.
A 1-1 draw at Bournemouth on the weekend ended a run of three straight defeats in the league, but they make the trio south to Leeds with plenty of injuries. That will have only made the task harder for a side who have not recorded a league win on the road since a 2-1 win at Chelsea back in October.
SUNDERLAND RECENT FORM

Given Leeds’ home record this season, it is perhaps little surprise to see them made favourites ahead of this clash, with the Whites priced up at 87/100 to win, with Daniel Farke’s side available to back at 17/20 with our 2 Up concession.
The draw is chalked up at 12/5, with what would be a first Sunderland win at Elland Road since 2006 priced at 17/5.
Wilson Isidor opened the scoring in the corresponding fixture lasts season and the Frenchman is 15/2 to repeat the trick tonight, with DCL 16/5 to open the scoring and atone for his miss at the weekend.
One angle that may be worth a look is Anton Stach related bets. Despite impressing this season for Leeds, Germany gaffer Julian Nagelsmann publicly snubbed the midfielder this week and the former Hoffenheim man may look to prove a point tonight. He has four goals and three assist from 23 league appearances and he is 4/1 to score and 14/1 to score a fourth free-kick of the campaign this evening.
