The Magpies crashed out of the FA Cup at the weekend and with a disappointing league campaign thus far, this competition presents their final chance of any glory this season. Barcelona, meanwhile, are on a run of four consecutive victories and will be confident of grabbing another victory over the hosts here, after winning on match day one of the league phase.

In terms of Champions League form, Barcelona completed the league phase in fifth position with five wins, one draw and two defeats in their eight matches. This included three victories in their final three matches. The Blaugrana scored 22 goals, but were quite leaky at the back and conceded 14.
Newcastle, meanwhile, finished in 12th in the standings with four wins, two draws and two defeats - including the defeat to Barca on matchday one. The Magpies scored 17 and conceded just 7, and ended their league phase with a draw against the holders PSG.
