Aaron Rai claimed his first major at the 2026 PGA Championship, finishing three clear of Jon Rahm and Alex Smalley.
The PGA Championship is the golf calendar’s second major of the year (following The Masters) and is played in May. The PGA Championship is also the only major where only professional players are allowed to participate in the event.
Historically the PGA Championship was a matchplay event but made the change to being a stoke play event in 1958.
Winning the PGA Championship provides immediate security for professional golfers, with the winner getting a five-year PGA tour exemption, invited to all majors, and can participate in the PGA Championship for life.
