One of English football’s fiercest rivalries takes centre stage as domestic action returns following the extended international break, with Southampton and Portsmouth going head-to-head in the South Coast derby.
Southampton currently sit in mid-table in the Championship, having had four points deducted at the start of the season following the ‘Spygate’ affair. Portsmouth are just two points behind their rivals and could leapfrog the Saints in the table with victory at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.

Southampton are the favourites to win this fixture, priced at 6/11 on Spreadex’s fixed odds market (1/2 on our 2 Up early payout Match Odds market) with visitors Portsmouth priced at 17/4 (15/4 on the 2 Up early payout market) and the draw at 16/5.
The last time these two sides met the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Leo Scienza scoring for Saints whereas Ebou Adams got on the scoresheet for Pompey. A repeat of that scoreline this time round is priced at 7/1.
Alternatively, if you’re expecting both teams to get on the scoresheet and the result to be a draw without picking an exact result, BTTS + Draw is available at 18/5.
Our football spread betting prices have Southampton as the favourites with a Goal Supremacy quote of Southampton/Portsmouth 0.95 – 1.15. This means a 'buy' bet at 1.15 would need a Southampton two goal win to start turning a profit (e.g. two goal win would win 0.85x your stake, three goal win would win 1.85x your stake etc.).
A 1 'sell' bet would need a draw or Portsmouth win to turn a profit (e.g. a draw would win 0.95x your stake and a one goal Portsmouth win would win 1.95x your stake etc.).
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 3 – 3.2. So, a 3.2 'buy' bet would need at least four goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a ‘3’ sell bet would need two goals or less to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 3.2 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 3.2x your stake if the match ended 0-0. In the 1.15 'buy' Supremacy bet example above, a Southampton one goal win would lose 0.15x your stake, a draw would lose 1.15x your stake and a one goal Portsmouth win would lose 2.15x your stake etc. And in the 0.95 'sell' Supremacy example above, the bet would lose 0.05x your stake on a one goal Southampton win and 1.05x your stake on a two goal Southampton win etc.
Price Boosts are typically available on the Spreadex website the day before the game, so it’s worth checking back closer to kick-off for enhanced odds. In addition, Spreadex also features ‘Popular Bet-Builders’, specially curated by their in-house pricing team to highlight fan-favourite betting combinations.
In Southampton’s last Championship outing at St Marys they dismantled Bristol City 4-1 with the spread betting market Southampton Total Goal Minutes making up at a massive 266. This time round Southampton Total Goal Minutes has a spread of 98 - 108. This means that if there were to be a repeat of 266 Southampton Total Goal Minutes, a buy at 108 would win 158x your stake. Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. So for example if Southampton failed to score, Southampton Total Goal Minutes would make up at 0, meaning a ‘buy’ at 108 would lose 108x times your stake.
