Spreadex Sports previews the upcoming 2025/26 Premier League fixture between Sunderland and Burnley. The Black Cats have had a very solid campaign thus far, with a realistic target for this season appearing to be a respectable mid-table finish, with the potential of a place in the top-10.
Fellow promoted side Burnley have had a far less stellar season than the hosts, with the Clarets looking at likely relegation as they sit at least ten points from safety. A win here is therefore a must, and some confidence may be drawn from the Clarets' last three matches which saw draws against Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool.

Both of these sides have been in inconsistent form of late, but Sunderland will be hoping to use home advantage to bounce back from a hugely disappointing 3-1 loss to relegation-threatened West Ham last time out. The Black Cats have yet to lose a single match at home this season in the Premier League, so will be keen to extend that run.
Burnley will be encouraged by their recent performances against the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd, but draws will not suffice for any chance of survival for the Clarets, so they must take advantage of any wobble by Sunderland to grab all three points.

The Spreadex Sports fixed odds Match Odds betting prices have Sunderland as strong 4/5 favourites to secure a victory while our 2 Up early pay out market, which pays out when a team goes two goals up, has the Black Cats at 3/4.
Burnley meanwhile are available at 15/4 for the away victory (17/2 on our 2 Up market), with the draw at 23/10.
H2H form of late has been mixed, with the last five meetings seeing two 0-0 stalemates, two wins for Burnley and one for Sunderland.
Only three of the last ten meetings saw Both Teams Scoring, and you can back Both to Score - No at 8/11 here.
Our football spread betting prices have the Goal Supremacy as Sunderland/Burnley 0.6 - 0.8. This means if Sunderland won 3-0 (or by any other three goal margin), a 'buy' bet at 0.8 would mean a return of 2.2x your initial stake.
However, if you bought at 0.8 in their favour and the match ended goalless, you would lose 0.8x your stake. Or, if Burnley were to grab a 1-0 (or any other one goal margin) win, the market would settle negatively at -1 and a buy at 0.8 would result in a loss of 1.8x your opening stake.
You can calculate various make-ups by using our handy spread betting calculator, found here.
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 2.35 - 2.55. So a 2.55 'buy' bet would need at least three goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 2.35 sell bet would need less than three goals to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 2.55 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 2.55x your opening stake if the match ended 0-0, and so on.
The last meeting of these sides earlier this season saw Burnley win 2-0 at Turf Moor, and that result can be backed for a repeat at 20/1 here.
We have several pre-built Popular Bet-Builders, including Burnley to win, Over 3.5 Burnley corners, Over 1.5 Sunderland cards & Over 2.5 goals - 18/1, Sunderland to win, Sunderland most corners & Burnley most cards - 17/4, Sunderland to win & Sunderland most corners - 9/5 and much more!
Price Boosts for this one will be on site closer to kick-off.
