After avoiding relegation on the final day of last season and following two successive 17th place Premier League finishes, Tottenham have made a spluttering start to the new season so far – despite a huge summer transfer outlay.
New signings Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, Omar Marmoush, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Marcos Sensei, Andrew Robertson and Tosin Adarabioyo have all so far failed to gel.
Currently sitting once again 17th in the table, Roberto de Zerbi's side have failed to score a goal so far from four games played and will be desperately chasing a win to lift spirits ahead of the three week international break.

Similarly to Spurs, Aston Villa have suffered a slow start to the season amid a rebuilding project after losing a host of players since their Europa League triumph in May.
With the transfer window now firmly closed, boss Unai Emery will be concentrating on trying to bed his new signings and improve on their poor start.
Wins have seen recent wins in the Carabao Cup (v Coventry) and Champions League (v Club Brugge) but the Villains are yet to find a victory in the Premier League.
LOSS: Aston Villa 1-2 Nottingham Forest. Saturday 12th September 2026.DRAW: Hull City 0-0 Aston Villa. Saturday 5th September 2026.LOSS: Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal. Monday 31st August 2026.LOSS: Brighton 4-0 Aston Villa. Sunday 23rd August 2026.

On the Spreadex fixed odds prices, Tottenham are even money to get the win against Aston Villa with the visitors priced 27/10 to grab all three points and the draw 13/5.
The Spreadex 2-Up early payout market, which settles when either side takes a two goal lead, has Spurs at 19/20 and Villa at 12/5.
The big question is will Tottenham Hotspur finally score a Premier League goal this season?! Tottenham Over 0.5 Goals is just 2/11 suggesting Spurs may finally find the net in this encounter.
Tottenham Over 1.5 Goals is even money while if you think Tottenham will draw a blank again, Spurs Under 0.5 Goals is 16/5.

On the Spreadex Sports football spread betting prices, Tottenham are the favourites in our Goal Supremacy market at Tottenham/Aston Villa 0.35 – 0.55. This means a 'buy' bet at 0.55 would need Tottenham to win by at least a goal to start turning a profit (e.g. one goal win would win 0.45 x your stake, two goal win 1.45 times your stake, three goal win 2.45 your stake etc.).
A 0.35 'sell' bet would need either a draw or Aston Villa win to turn a profit (e.g. draw would win 0.35 your stake, one goal Villa win 1.35 your stake etc.).
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 2.7 – 2.9. So a 2.9 'buy' bet would need at least three goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 2.7 sell bet would need two goals or less to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 2.9 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 2.9 times your stake if the match ended 0-0, lose 1.9 times your stake if only two goals were scored in total and lose 0.9 times your stake if only one goal was scored in the match.
In the 0.55 'buy' Supremacy bet example above, if the game ended a draw the bet would lose 0.55 x your stake. If Villa won by one goal then it would lose 1.55 x your stake, if Villa won by two goals would lose 2.55 x your stake etc. And in the 0.35 'sell' Supremacy example above, the bet would lose 0.65 x your stake on a one goal Tottenham win, 1.65 x your stake on a two goal Tottenham win, 2.65 x your stake on a three goal Tottenham win etc.

Last season Villa beat Spurs 2-1 on two occasions at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – once in the league and once in the FA Cup. A repeat of that scoreline is priced at 11/1.
Emiliano Buendia scored in each of those games for the visitors. Buendia Anytime Scorer in this one has been given a Price Boost by Spreadex from 12/5 to 29/10.
Meanwhile Buendia 1+ Assist, Buendia 1+ Shot on Target, Nicolas Jackson to Score Anytime, Over 2.5 Match Goals and Over 8.5 Corners has been boosted from 25/1 to 40/1.
Meanwhile on the spread betting front, Spurs Goals is priced at 1.55 – 1.75. So a buy at 1.75 would win 0.25 x your stake if Spurs score 2, win 1.25 x your stake if Spurs score 3, 2.25 x your stake if Spurs score 4 etc.
A sell at 1.55 would win 0.55 x your stake if Spurs only score once, or 1.55 x your stake if Spurs don't score.
Remember that spread betting losses can exceed deposit unlike fixed odds betting. So the 1.75 buy of Spurs goals would lose 0.75 x your stake if Spurs only score one goal or lose 1.75 x your stake if Spurs don't score. The 1.55 sell would lose 0.45 x your stake if Spurs score two goals, lose 1.45 x your stake if Spurs score three goals, 2.45 x your stake if Spurs score four goals and so on.
