Tottenham have a mountain to climb in the second leg of this tie, with a three-goal deficit to overturn. Their trip to Madrid last week couldn’t have gone much worse, with Igor Tudor’s men 4-0 down after just 22 minutes following some horror mistakes from goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Spurs did get two goals back to eventually lose 5-2 in the first leg, and a draw with Liverpool at the weekend may give fans some confidence. However, they will need to be at their very best if they are to progress to the next round of the Champions League.

Atlético Madrid will be expecting their opponents to come out all guns blazing and may need to weather an early storm in this second leg. Diego Simeone’s men will be well aware of the dangers of overconfidence heading into second legs after almost squandering a four-goal lead to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey earlier this season. However, a win against Getafe in La Liga at the weekend will leave Atlético fans feeling confident heading into a game where they effectively have a three-goal head start.

Atlético are strong favourites to qualify for the next round, priced at 1/100 to progress to the Champions League’s quarter finals. Spurs contrastingly are long shots at 16/1 to keep their European dreams alive.
However, odds for the second leg are much closer. You can back Tottenham to win on Wednesday at 31/20, or at 7/5 in our 2 Up market which pays out if your team goes up by two goals during the match. If you expect Atlético to win the second leg, you can back them at 6/4, or 11/8 in our 2 Up market. You can back the draw after 90 minutes at 27/10.

We also offer a number of spread betting markets for Wednesday’s clash, including our “Goal Supremacy” market. This market currently has the sides inseparable, with Spurs favoured by -0.1 – 0.1 goals. This means that if you placed a “buy” bet, you would need Spurs to win to start turning a profit, and if you sold, you would need Atlético to win. If you bought, a one-goal victory for Spurs would win you 0.9 times your stake, a two-goal victory 1.9 times your stake, and so on.
However, if you bought and Spurs lost, you would lose money. Here, a one-goal loss would cost you 1.1 times your stake, a two-goal loss 2.1 times your stake, etc. A draw in the match will result in no win or loss for both buyers and sellers.
You can also bet on the total number of goals scored during the game with our Total Goals market. This is currently set at 2.9-3.1. If you’re expecting plenty of goalmouth action, you would “buy” and would need at least four total goals to turn a profit. Alternatively, if you expect a low-scoring affair, you could “sell” and would need fewer than three goals to turn a profit.
If you sold and the game ended 1-0, you would win 1.9 times your stake. However, if you sold and the game ended 5-2, as the first leg did, you would lose 4.1 times your stake. It’s important to remember that when spread betting, if your bet loses, you can lose multiples of your stake, so be sure to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.
