Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew made a good profit with his buy of DOUBLE NUMBER OF WINNER in the 4.40 at Aintree yesterday (market made up at 26) and has three recommended bets/trades on Friday, April 12th.
In the past ten years (nine renewals, as COVID intervened in 2020) all winners of the 3m1f Mildmay Novices’ Chase had finished first or second at the Cheltenham festival on their latest outing and backing all 20 qualifiers would have returned a profit of £12.28 to a £1 level stake at SP. There are two qualifiers this year – Kim Muir winner INOTHEWAYURTHINKIN and CHIANTI CLASSICO, successful in the Ultima Handicap Chase. Buying both in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market is one angle, though with Spreadex combining the pair in their FAV OR RAG market at 5-6 against the field, the fixed odds approach might prove the best way to side with the pair.
Recommendation: Back FAV in FAV OR RAG market in Aintree 1.45
MISTER GIF bolted up in a Limerick maiden hurdle in January on his debut for Willie Mullins and acquitted himself well when upped to Grade 1 company in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival, finishing an 18-1 fifth to Slade Steel (beaten by just 7.5L). That was a fine effort given his relative inexperience and he can reverse form with the runner-up/third, Mystical Power and Firefox. Buy at 11 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back MISTER GIF in Aintree 2.55
TED HASTINGS scored over 2m4f in the USA but has struggled to stay that sort of trip in Ireland/Britain, weakening into sixth of 20 at Fairyhouse last spring and finding Bingoo too strong at the finish when runner-up here at Aintree on Boxing Day. Those two runs aside, his record over hurdles reads 1211138 (4-7), improving to 121113 (4-6) from March to October. The big field/strong pace scenario will suit now returned to his optimum 2m trip and he can provide Gordon Elliott with another Aintree winner. Buy at 7 in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price each-way (14-1 at the time of writing).
Recommendation: Back TED HASTINGS in Aintree 5.15
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
