Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew found Chepstow winner KALAMA SUNRISE and successfully opposed ZENZIC (8th) at Windsor on Thursday and has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, August 16th.
Wolverhampton’s Tapeta surface rides very differently in the summer/early autumn when the higher temperatures can cause the wax binding that holds the surface together to melt, producing more kickback and making life very difficult for hold-up horses. One jockey who rides Dunstall Park well at this time of year is HOLLIE DOYLE whose record in the June to September period stands at 35 winners from 163 mounts (21.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £76.21 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 23.52, A/E = 1.49). Doyle has six rides for six different trainers this afternoon and all bar HECKLING (as big as 80-1 for the fillies’ novice contest at 2.25) look to have realistic chances. WHAT’S SHE AT (1.50) was still green when scoring comfortably in a 7f Redcar maiden last time and her earlier Newcastle second suggests that the Tapeta surface will hold no fears on her nursery debut. DANZART (3.00) has not won since a course and distance success in June of last year but has made the frame in five of his last six starts and could pick up points, while WHISPERING ROYAL, who failed to settle when down the field in first-time cheekpieces at Sandown last time, is 1-1 on the all-weather and trainer Alan King is in good form. POP DANCER is the outsider of the field at around 14-1 for the 5f handicap (4.10) but tends to come good at this time of year and might get loose on the lead. Phil Kirby’s BUSBY (4.45), her final ride, is most intriguing. Doyle is eight from 29 when riding for this yard in all-weather handicaps (+£11.04) and nine-year-old’s prominent style will be better suited to this venue than to Newcastle where he finished second best of those to race up with the pace when a 14-1 fifth.
Recommendation: Buy HOLLIE DOYLE in Wolverhampton Jockeys
SPRING BLOOM clocked a fast time when scoring narrowly over course and distance last time, despite rearing at the start, and can follow up under top weight. Robert Eddery’s seven-year-old had caught the eye over 5f at Sandown the time before, doing second best of the prominent racers when fifth to Lil Guff and he can usually be relied upon to run his race in July/August in Class 4 (today’s grade) or lower, recording form figures of 391321151 (4-9). Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back SPRING BLOOM in Newmarket 8.00
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
