Daily Spread Betting Round-up
There was plenty of online betting action over the last few days and we have scanned the results for the big winning bets.
Please remember spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.
The dust has settled on the opening round of fixtures in the men’s and women’s Rugby League World Cup and there were some thrilling clashes over the weekend. Australia’s comeback win over New Zealand was one of the best Tests the sport has seen. On Saturday, Tonga finally defeated England, with Brian McDermott’s side needing results to go in their favour if they are to make the semi-finals.
On the women’s side of the draw, there were big wins for Australia, Papua New Guinea, and England, but it was New Zealand who nearly fell to a shock defeat. Playing debutants Fiji, they trailed 12-4 at half-time, before finding their stride and running out 18-12 winners.
The three-time world champions were expected to desptach Fiji with ease and the Winning Margin x Total Points spread was 2118-2311 before kick-off. Sellers on the pre-match market would have been delighted to see the spread settle at 180 as they pocketed a whopping 1938x their stake.
After a barnstorming brawl in May, Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley met again in London for a fight which had the same outcome, albeit achieved in very different circumstances. The first fight saw Dubois climb off the canvas twice before stopping the teak-tough Wardley in the 11th round in front of a packed out arena in Manchester.
On Saturday however, it was Dubois who came flying out the traps, and the Londoner scored a knockdown in the first round, before seeing the fight waved off in the second. A quick night’s work for the Greenwich man was greatly appreciated by sellers on the Completed Rounds Squared market at 54-61.
With just one round completed on the scorecards, the spread settled at 1 as buyers won 53x their stake.
The final big domestic flat meeting of the year took place at the weekend and a crowd of over 30,000 were in attendance to watch some top-quality racing at Champions Day. Almeraq and Ombudsman justified favouritism when winning their respective races, but
there was a shock in the Group One Fillies and Mares Stakes where Kalpana could only finish seventh.
Sent off as even money favourite on our fixed odds betting and with a Race Index of 26-29, she never made much of an impression and a long season may have taken its toll. Trained by Andrew Balding, she has won the Yorkshire Oaks and the King George this season but could only manage fifth two weeks ago in the Arc.
A finish outside of the places was great news for sellers, who saw the spread make up at zero as they pocketed a win of 26x their stake.
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
