Daily Spread Betting Round-up
There was plenty of top-quality sporting action over the last few days and we have sifted through the results to pick out three big winning bets.
St Helens have never missed out on the Super League play-offs, and they kept their slim chances of maintaining that record alive, with a comfortable 36-12 victory over Castleford on Saturday.
That despite finishing the game with ten men as Alex Walmsley and Chris Matagi were sin-binned late on in the match. Just before half-time, Jackson Hastings had been sent off for punching Tyler Dupree, with the Castleford Tigers man also sin-binned for his part in the scuffle.
With 55 Booking Points and eight tries, it was a good day to be a buyer on the Tries x Bookings spread at 40-68. With the market settling at 440, those buyers won 372x their stake.
England opened their Test series against Pakistan with a comfortable victory inside three days at Headingley on Friday. There were some impressive performances with the bat, but they also excelled with the ball, and Ollie Robinson had a great match.
The Sussex seamer picked up a fivefer in the first innings, before taking three wickets in the second innings as Pakistan crumbled in the Yorkshire sunshine. Before the Test began, the Ollie Robinson Bowler Performance spread was 51-54. This market awards ten points per wicket, with a 25 point bonus for a fivefer, so with Robinson claiming eight wickets, including a fivefer, the spread settled at 105 with buyers winning 51x their stake.
The Premier League may have started at the weekend, but Saturday also saw teams down towards the bottom of the pyramid take their first steps in the FA Cup. Northwich Victoria were one of those sides dreaming of cup glory, with the 1979 FA Trophy winners dreaming of making it through to the cup proper.
Their opponents on Saturday were the historic Liverpool non-league club Bootle FC. One-time FA Cup quarter-finalists in 1890, Bootle also played in the Football League until they dropped out a few years later being replaced by local rivals Liverpool.
The reformed Bootle will have to negotiate a replay to get to the next round after they drew 4-4 at the weekend, having twice seen their lead pegged back. It was the first blemish on Bootle’s 100% record, and they would have fancied their chances of progressing at the first time of asking against a Northwich side who play at the level below.
For canny spread betting punters, there was a big winning bet on Goals Cubed, which was 53-62 before kick-off. With eight goals scored in Cheshire, the spread settled at 512, with buyers winning 450x their stake.
