Weekend's Big Winning Bets 29.12.25

After a weekend full of major sporting action over Christmas, Aston Villa continued their incredible winning run in the Premier League, Steven Bunting crashed out at Alexandra Palace in the darts, and Nick Kyrgios comprehensively came out on top in the 'Battle of the Sexes' match against Aryna Sabalenka.

In the darts betting action, the weekend saw another shock from Ally Pally at the PDC World Championships as popular Scouser Steven Bunting turned out to be not as 'bulletproof' as his walk-on music as he suffered a defeat to the relatively unheralded James Hurrell.

Although Bunting started better, an undulating match saw momentum shift Hurrell's way and the underdog held a 3-2 lead in the first-to-4 sets match, but Bunting seemingly looked on for a comeback as he produced a 110 checkout to break the throw and level up the match for a deciding set.

Having started the decider throwing first, Bunting looked the odds-on favourite to make it through, but Hurrell had other ideas as he broke the throw at 1-1, duly holding his nerve thereafter to secure a massive win.

'BATTLE OF THE SEXES' - KYRGIOS v SABALENKA: TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 122)

Finally, we round off on the tennis action as the much spoken about 'Battle of the Sexes' event took place between current women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka and former men's Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios, now ranked outside the top-700.

Kyrgios, who has suffered from numerous injuries and loss of form since his standout year in 2022 where he was runner-up at SW19, was long outspoken on his chances against Sabalenka - or rather the Belarusian's lack of chances against him - and the brash Aussie finally had his chance to prove his boasts.

Despite a modified court which in theory would benefit Sabalenka, and a well-matched start which saw several service breaks for both, Kyrgios ultimately pulled ahead and secured a dominant 6-3, 6-3 victory. Will this be the last we see of the 'Battle of the Sexes' format?
