Championship Predictions 26/27

With the new Championship season fast approaching, Spreadex Sports' Championship markets are now live, giving you the opportunity to trade on everything from the title race and promotion battle to relegation and individual team performances. Among the most popular markets are our Championship Season Points spreads, allowing you to predict how every club will perform over the course of the campaign.

Rather than simply backing a club to win promotion or finish in the play-offs, Championship Season Points spread betting lets you buy or sell a team's predicted points total.

Each team is assigned a season points spread before the opening weekend. If you think a club will exceed its expected points tally, you can buy. If you believe they'll fall short, you can sell. For example, if a team's spread is 70-72, buying at 72 for £10 per point would return a £60 profit if they finished the season on 78 points. If they ended the campaign on 66 points, you would make a £60 loss. Unlike fixed-odds betting, your profit or loss depends on how far above or below your opening buy or sell price the team finishes.

The Championship Season Points market is updated throughout the season to reflect each club's performances, giving you the opportunity to trade on changing expectations from the opening weekend through to the final day.

Read on to see our Championship 2026/27 Season Points predictions for every club, as we forecast how each team will perform over the course of the campaign. From promotion favourites and play-off contenders to sides battling to avoid relegation, discover which teams we expect to thrive and which could face a difficult season.

It is important to note Spreadex’s forecast is a live market. Which means club’s forecasted totals can change between now and the start of the season, and good transfer business could improve a team’s outlook. Points predictions in this article are accurate as of 28th July 2026.

Spread betting carries a high level of risk and can result in losses larger than your initial steak/deposit.

  1. WEST HAM – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 83.5–85.5 POINTS

West Ham head into the 2026/27 Championship season as favourites to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. Despite relegation last campaign, the Hammers finished strongly, almost overturning a 13-point gap to Tottenham after the turn of the year.

The summer has already seen the club raise more than £140 million through the sales of Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, while keeping hold of captain Jarrod Bowen could prove to be their most important piece of business. With significant funds still available to strengthen the squad, we expect West Ham to dominate the Championship and finish on around 84.5 points, enough to lift the title.

You can also back West Ham to win the Championship at 9/5 or secure promotion at 8/15 in our fixed odds outright markets.

  1. WOLVES – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 77–79 POINTS

Another side looking for an instant Premier League return is Wolves. A disastrous start to last season left them facing an uphill battle, with relegation appearing inevitable long before the campaign reached its conclusion.

The return of Raúl Jiménez adds valuable experience and firepower to the squad, and we expect Wolves to challenge near the top of the Championship throughout the season. Our Championship points prediction has Wolves finishing on around 78 points, which should be enough for automatic promotion.

You can also back Wolves to win the Championship at 5/1 or gain promotion at 8/5 in our outright markets.

  1. SOUTHAMPTON – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 74–76 POINTS

Southampton ended last season as one of the Championship's form teams and also enjoyed an impressive FA Cup run, including a memorable victory over Arsenal.

Their campaign wasn't without controversy, however, as the club missed out on the play-off final following the widely discussed 'spy-gate' incident and now begin the new season with a four-point deduction. As that deduction isn't factored into our Championship Season Points market, we forecast Southampton to finish on around 75 points, making them strong contenders for another play-off place.

  1. MIDDLESBROUGH – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 73–75 POINTS

Middlesbrough came agonisingly close to promotion last season before suffering defeat to Hull City in the Championship play-off final.

Boro have strengthened once again this summer after receiving almost £40 million from Hayden Hackney's sale, along with a significant sell-on fee following Morgan Rogers' £117 million move to Chelsea. New arrivals Will Lankshear and Sebastian Berhalter add further quality to an already competitive squad, and we expect Middlesbrough to finish on around 74 points, keeping them firmly in the play-off mix.

  1. BURNLEY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 72.5–74.5 POINTS

Burnley complete the trio of clubs relegated from the Premier League and face a crucial rebuilding campaign following a busy summer of departures.

The Clarets have lost several key players, including Maxime Estève, Loum Tchouna, Jaidon Anthony and Lesley Ugochukwu. Even so, Burnley still possess plenty of Championship quality and should remain competitive throughout the season. We predict they'll finish on around 73.5 points, giving them every chance of securing promotion through the play-offs.

  1. BIRMINGHAM CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 68.5–70.5 POINTS

Birmingham City's progress under their American ownership continues to gather momentum, and after finishing 10th last season, they'll have genuine ambitions of breaking into the play-off places.

The Blues appear to be building steadily both on and off the pitch, and we believe another step forward is on the cards. Our Championship prediction has Birmingham finishing on around 69.5 points, leaving them firmly in the hunt for a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2011.

  1. NORWICH CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 68.5–70.5 POINTS

Norwich looked to be heading towards a relegation battle after a dreadful start to last season before Philippe Clement transformed the club's fortunes following his appointment in November.

Since then, the Canaries have been among the Championship's strongest performers, and they'll be aiming to carry that momentum into the new campaign. We expect Norwich to collect around 69.5 points, enough to secure another play-off place.

  1. WREXHAM – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 67–69 POINTS

Wrexham's remarkable rise under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has taken them from non-league football to the Championship in just five years.

Now just one division away from the Premier League, another promotion challenge cannot be ruled out. We predict Wrexham will finish on around 68 points, which should be enough to claim the final play-off position under the expanded format and keep their fairytale journey alive.

You can also back Wrexham to win promotion at 6/1 in our fixed odds outright markets.

  1. SHEFFIELD UNITED – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 66.5–68.5 POINTS

Sheffield United have endured a difficult spell since their play-off final defeat to Sunderland, with last season ending in a disappointing 13th-place finish.

Chris Wilder will be hoping to recreate the success of his previous spells at Bramall Lane, having previously guided the Blades to two promotions and an impressive Premier League campaign. While we don't expect Sheffield United to challenge for automatic promotion, we do forecast a significant improvement, with around 67.5 points likely to see them pushing towards the play-off places.

  1. MILLWALL – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 67–69 POINTS

Millwall exceeded expectations last season by finishing third, ending the campaign just one point short of the automatic promotion places.

Repeating that achievement may prove difficult, particularly if they lose influential winger Femi Azeez amid Premier League interest. Even so, the Lions should remain competitive, and we predict they'll finish on around 68 points, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.

  1. DERBY COUNTY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 61.5–63.5 POINTS

Derby County narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season and will be hoping to build on that encouraging campaign.

The Rams have strengthened by making Sammie Szmodics' move permanent while also bringing in Bobby Clark on loan. However, the long-term absence of striker Patrick Agyemang could limit their attacking threat during the first half of the season. We expect Derby to experience a slight regression, finishing on around 62.5 points.

  1. WEST BROM – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 58.5–60.5 POINTS

West Brom looked destined for relegation before former player James Morrison stepped into the dugout and inspired a remarkable turnaround.

A 10-match unbeaten run secured Championship survival, and the Baggies will hope to build on that momentum this season. While a promotion challenge may be beyond them, we expect West Brom to enjoy a comfortable mid-table campaign, finishing on around 59.5 points.

  1. STOKE CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 58–60 POINTS

Stoke City made an encouraging start to last season before their form faded, eventually leaving the Potters in a disappointing 17th place.

The club has strengthened over the summer with the arrivals of proven Championship midfielder Ethan Galbraith, alongside promising youngsters Luke Graham and Djibril Soumaré. Those additions should help Stoke improve, but we still expect them to fall short of the play-off race. Our Championship prediction has the Potters finishing on around 59 points, placing them at the top of the bottom half.

  1. BRISTOL CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 57.5–59.5 POINTS

Bristol City have added goals to their squad this summer with the signings of Dom Ballard and Lorent Tolaj, who scored a combined 41 League One goals last season.

Despite those additions, we believe consistency could once again prove to be an issue. While the Robins should remain comfortably clear of the relegation battle, we expect them to finish on around 58.5 points, placing them in the lower reaches of mid-table.

  1. SWANSEA CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 56–58 POINTS

Swansea boast one of the Championship's most dangerous strikers in Žan Vipotnik, whose 23-goal haul earned him last season's Golden Boot.

However, even with proven firepower leading the line, we believe the Swans may struggle to challenge for the top half. Our Championship season points prediction has Swansea finishing on around 57 points, leaving them in 15th place.

  1. QPR – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 56–58 POINTS

Queens Park Rangers have strengthened their squad with the eye-catching free transfer of Tariq Lamptey, while loan arrivals Pierce Charles and Glenn Kamara add further quality and depth.

Despite those additions, we expect QPR to endure another inconsistent campaign. We predict the R's will finish level with Swansea on around 57 points, leaving them safely clear of relegation but well short of the play-off picture.

  1. WATFORD – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 55.5–57.5 POINTS

Watford continue to search for stability following another disappointing campaign. The Hornets ended last season with five consecutive defeats, prompting the appointment of Alessio Dionisi as the club's 24th permanent manager in just 14 years.

With uncertainty continuing both on and off the pitch, we expect Watford to remain in the bottom half of the Championship. Our prediction is 56.5 points, enough to avoid relegation but little more.

  1. PORTSMOUTH – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 55.5–57.5 POINTS

Portsmouth pulled away from danger during the closing stages of last season to secure an 18th-place finish.

Although Pompey should once again prove difficult to beat at Fratton Park, we don't expect a significant leap forward this campaign. We forecast Portsmouth to finish on around 56.5 points, comfortably avoiding the drop but remaining in the lower half of the table.

  1. BLACKBURN ROVERS – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 54–56 POINTS

Blackburn Rovers finished only five points above the relegation zone after collecting 52 points last season.

We expect a slight improvement this time around, with Rovers picking up a few extra results to finish on approximately 55 points. That should be enough to climb one place to 19th and steer clear of serious relegation trouble.

  1. CARDIFF CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 53.5–55.5 POINTS

Cardiff City return to the Championship after securing automatic promotion from League One with a second-place finish.

The Bluebirds' primary objective will be survival, and we believe they have enough quality to avoid an immediate return to League One. Our Championship prediction sees Cardiff finishing on around 54.5 points, comfortably clear of the relegation zone.

  1. PRESTON NORTH END – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 52–54 POINTS

Preston North End are entering their 13th consecutive Championship campaign, having matched Bristol City's record of 12 straight seasons in the division.

Extending that run may prove difficult, however. We expect Preston to be involved in the relegation battle throughout much of the season before securing safety with around 53 points, level with fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers.

  1. BOLTON WANDERERS – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 52–54 POINTS

Bolton Wanderers return to the Championship after winning promotion through the League One play-offs, but staying in the division will be their biggest challenge.

The Trotters have lost influential loanee Amario Cozier-Duberry following his return to his parent club, and replacing that quality won't be easy. We predict Bolton will battle hard but ultimately finish on around 53 points, narrowly avoiding an immediate return to League One.

  1. CHARLTON ATHLETIC – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 51.5–53.5 POINTS

Charlton Athletic narrowly avoided relegation last season after a dramatic decline in form during the second half of the campaign.

Unless the Addicks can rediscover the consistency they showed earlier in the year, another difficult season looks likely. We predict Charlton will finish on around 52.5 points, leaving them second from bottom and heading back to League One.

  1. LINCOLN CITY – CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS PREDICTION: 47.5–49.5 POINTS

Lincoln City's rise from non-league football to the Championship in just nine years has been one of English football's great success stories.

However, this could be a step too far for the Imps. Making their first Championship appearance in 65 years, we expect Lincoln to find life at this level extremely challenging. Our Championship season points prediction has them finishing on around 48.5 points, leaving them bottom of the table and facing an immediate return to League One.
