Can Mansfield lay a hoof on automatic promotion with a win over League Two leaders Lincoln, at 7.45pm on Sky Sports Football? The Imps have had League Two on lock for most of the season. For 31 out of 36 weeks that have sat at the top of the table, eager to erase last year’s play-off semi-final defeat to Exeter from memory. The club has been especially strong in 2019, failing to lose a league game in 13 fixtures.
Not that they have excelled, mind. More than half of those matches have ended in a draw, with repeat instances of Lincoln throwing away the lead in the final few minutes. Nevertheless, they have a 5 point lead over 2nd place Bury, and will be looking to widen that moat on Monday night. Mansfield, on the other hand, had seen their form erode somewhat since the New Year began. Having suffered just one league defeat in the first half of the season, the Stags now have lost 5 of their last 14 matches, a run that has caused them to slip behind Milton Keynes and into the play-off zone (they do, however, have a game in hand over the Dons). Tyler Walker, who has 17 goals in the league, heads into the match at a Super Mega PGM of 30-36, with Jorge Grant and Nicky Ajose at 17-21 apiece. As for Lincoln, their best shot John Akinade, who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 21-26. When the 2 teams met in League Two back in November the honours were shared, with a late goal from Kellan Gordan cancelled out by an even later strike by Jacob Mellis. Yet a bit earlier than that the Stags had the Imps’ number, beating them 2-1 in the EFL Trophy. As for Monday, it’s a tricky one to call, with Spreadex offering a choice Mansfield/Lincoln Goal Supremacy spread of -0.1-0.1, alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.35-2.55.
