Will India’s summer tour culminate in their first Test series win in England since 2007? So far the honours have been pretty split in 2018. The visitors were triumph in the T20I series at the start of July, with heavy 8 and 7 wicket wins at Old Trafford and Bristol County Ground sandwiched around a 5 wicket loss in Cardiff. Yet England got their revenge in the ODI series a few weeks ago. Though the hosts lost the first match by 8 wickets, they bounced back at Lord’s, winning by 86 runs. The decider at Headingley then saw England return the favour from the opening match, beating India by 8 wickets as Joe Root secured his 2nd century of the series and the 13th of his career, a new English record. In terms of tour closer, England are at a To Win the Series spread of 54.5-60, compared to India’s 26.7-33.3, with the Series to be Drawn at 10.5-15.4. Breaking it down further, Spreadex are offering a Series Sixes spread of 30.5-33.5, with Series Ducks at 17-18, Series Wides at 30-33 and Series Ton Ups at 425-445. After his sterling performance during the ODI battle, Root has the best Series Batsman Runs spread of 445-465, following on the English side by Alastair Cook at 355-375, Jonny Bairstow at 340-360 and Keaton Jennings at 305-325. For India, the indomitable Virat Kohli has a spread of 420-440, with Cheteshwar Pujara at 335-355 and Dinesh Karthik at 265-280. Looking specifically at the 1st Test at Edgbaston, England sit at a 25:10 Index spread of 13.9-15.4 to India’s 8.6-10.1, with the hosts odds on at 5/6 to the visitors’ 7/2. Root is then at a Super Mega Player Runs spread of 145-155, trailed by Kohli at 135-145.
