George Margarson has his team in fine form and Ropey Guest capped an excellent spell for the yard when scoring in decisive fashion at Goodwood last week. He caught the eye on his  reappearance at Windsor – slowly into stride and held up in the rear, he made steady headway as the race developed but was unable to keep tabs on Hughie Morrison’s impressive scorer Royal Cape and wasn’t given a hard time by John Egan, coming home in his own time to finish fifth of the nine runners. GRADULATIONS appreciated every yard of the extended 1m2f trip at Sligo at about this time last year, finishing strongly to score with ease in maiden company. She was sent off at 5-1 to maintain her 100% Sligo record in a handicap last month but, wearing a Monty Roberts rug, she became upset in the stalls and missed the break by several lengths. She managed to get back into contention then met trouble when coming with her run and was eased down to finish sixth of the nine runners. She left the firm impression that she would have gone close at least had she broken on terms and I’ve kept a close eye on her since.  Dropped back to a mile on her next start, she struggled to keep up with the early pace and was doing all her best work in the closing stages, staying on well to finish less than six lengths behind the winner in a big-field handicap at the Curragh. She should relish the step back up to 1m2f this evening and trainer Andrew Oliver reaches for the first-time cheekpieces in a bid to help keep her mind on the job.
