ARGENTINA V CAPE VERDE BETTING FORM

The penultimate match from the Round of 32 sees Argentina take on tournament underdogs Cape Verde. The reigning champions have been near faultless to this point, winning all three group games and conceding just once along the way whilst scoring eight goals. Lionel Messi has continued his fine World Cup form, with six goals during the group stage seeing the all-time leading World Cup goalscorer tied with Kylian Mbappe in the race for the Golden Boot. Argentina will be heavily favoured in this one – can they take care of business and progress to the Round of 16?

Cape Verde’s qualification to the Round of 32 has been one of the fairytale stories of this summer’s tournament. The 64th-ranked team in the world shocked everyone by holding Spain to a scoreless draw in their opening match, and draws against Uruguay and Saudi Arabia were enough to see them through to the knockout stage on their World Cup debut. Now they face their toughest yet, as they head to Miami to take on 2022 champions Argentina. Can they cause another upset?

WHAT ARE THE BEST ODDS ON ARGENTINA V CAPE VERDE?

Argentina are strong favourites in this one, currently priced at 1/25 to qualify for the Round of 16, and at 2/13 to win in 90 minutes, or at 1/7 in our 2 Up market which pays out if your team goes ahead by two goals.

Cape Verde will head to Miami as heavy underdogs once again, at 9/1 to qualify and at 16/1 to win in normal time or at 14/1 in our 2 Up market. Bubista’s side drew all three of their group matches, and if you expect another stalemate after 90 minutes, you can back a draw at 7/1. If you’re hoping for maximum drama, you can back either side to win on penalties at 25/1.

ARGENTINA V CAPE VERDE FOOTBALL SPREAD BETTING PRICES

We also offer a number of spread betting markets for Friday’s match, including our Goal Supremacy market. This market currently has Argentina favoured by 2.1-2.3 goals. This means that if you placed a “buy” bet, you would need Argentina to win by at least three goals to start turning a profit. A three-goal victory for Argentina would win you 0.7 times your stake, a four-goal win 1.7 times your stake, and so on.

However, if you bought and Argentina drew, lost, or won by two or fewer, you would lose money. Here, a one-goal loss for Argentina would cost you 3.3 times your stake, whilst a draw would cost you 2.3 times your stake.

You can also bet on the total number of goals scored during the game with our Total Goals market. This is currently set at 3-3.2. If you’re expecting a high-scoring game, you would “buy” and would need at least three four goals to turn a profit. Alternatively, if you expect a low-scoring affair, you could “sell” and would need two goals or fewer to turn a profit (a three-goal game would cost and return nothing for sellers).

If you sold and the game ended 1-0, you would win 2 times your stake. However, if you sold and the game ended 4-2, you would lose 3 times your stake. It’s important to remember that when spread betting, if your bet loses, you can lose multiples of your stake, so be sure to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.
