ARGENTINA V SWITZERLAND BETTING FORM

Reigning champions Argentina have come through two back-to-back incredible World Cup ties to reach the quarter-finals. An extra-time victory over tournament debutants Cape Verde was followed by a controversial comeback win against Egypt, where Lionel Scaloni’s men were two goals down with just ten minutes of the ninety remaining. They will be hoping for a less dramatic fixture against Switzerland on Sunday, a side they have never lost to. Can Lionel Messi and Argentina keep their World Cup dream alive?

ARGENTINA FORM

WIN: Argentina 3-2 Egypt, 7 July 2026
WIN: Argentina 3-2 Cape Verde, 3 July 2026
WIN: Jordan 1-3 Argentina, 28 June 2026

Switzerland have qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time this century after beating Colombia in a penalty shoot-out in the round of 16. Murat Yakin’s side struggled to create chances in what was a fairly dull 120 minutes of football, but they showed good fighting spirit to win as underdogs against a strong Colombian side. However, with the reigning champions up next, Switzerland will need to take their game to a new level. Can they reach the World Cup semi-finals for the first time ever?

WHAT ARE THE BEST ODDS ON ARGENTINA V SWITZERLAND?

Argentina are the favourites in this one despite a couple of scares in their last two matches. You can back them to progress to the semi-finals at 3/10, and to win in 90 minutes at 4/6. You can also back them in our 2 Up market which pays out if your team goes up by two goals at 4/6.

Switzerland are the underdogs, at 12/5 to qualify and at 23/5 to win in normal time or at 17/4 in our 2 Up market. Both these sides have experienced extra time already this tournament, and if you expect another stalemate after 90 minutes, you can back a draw at 5/2.

ARGENTINA V SWITZERLAND FOOTBALL SPREAD BETTING PRICES

We also offer a number of spread betting markets for Thursday’s match, including our Goal Supremacy market. This market currently has Argentina favoured by 0.75-0.95 goals. This means that if you placed a “buy” bet, you would need Argentina to win to start turning a profit. A one-goal victory for Argentina would win you 0.05 times your stake, a two-goal win 1.05 times your stake, and so on.

However, if you bought and Argentina lost or drew you would lose money. Here, a one-goal loss for Argentina would cost you 1.95 times your stake, whilst a draw would cost you 0.95 times your stake.

You can also bet on the total number of goals scored during the game with our Total Goals market. This is currently set at 2.35-2.55. If you’re expecting a high-scoring game, you would “buy” and would need at least three goals to turn a profit. Alternatively, if you expect a low-scoring affair, you could “sell” and would need two goals or fewer to turn a profit.

If you sold and the game ended 1-0, you would win 1.35 times your stake. However, if you sold and the game ended 4-2, you would lose 3.65 times your stake. It’s important to remember that when spread betting, if your bet loses, you can lose multiples of your stake, so be sure to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.
