Liam Rosenior has enjoyed a solid start to his tenure as Chelsea manager, winning two of his first three games with the only loss being to Arsenal in the League Cup. Last weekend’s win over Brentford provided the Blues with some much-needed momentum heading into this Champions League after struggling in the Premier League since Christmas. Chelsea are currently 13th in the Champions League table, but a win on Wednesday could push them up into a coveted top-eight spot.

Pafos are currently 26th in the Champions League table and will likely need a win on Wednesday if they are to qualify for the knockout stages. The Cypriot club have also experienced a recent change at the helm, with long-term manager Juan Carlos Carcedo leaving the club just before Christmas. New boss Albert Celades’ first taste of European football will be against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Home fans will likely recognise one member of the Pafos squad, with former Blues defender David Luiz being in and out of the team this season. How will his side fare in the return to his old stomping ground?

Hosts Chelsea will be strong favourites in this one, with UCL debutants Pafos having struggled to adapt to life at the top level. You can back the Blues to win at 2/13, or 1/7 in our 2 Up Early Payout market, which pays out if your team goes up by at least two goals at any point. Can Liam Rosenior win his first game as a manager in the Champions League?
Visitors Pafos are underdogs in this clash, at 18/1 to win the match outright or 14/1 in our 2 Up market. The Cypriot side have only won once in this year’s Champions League, but will need to pick up points if they are to qualify for the knockout stages.
If you’re expecting a stalemate you can back the draw at 6/1.

Spreadex also has a number of spread betting markets for Wednesday’s clash. Our “Goal Supremacy” market has Chelsea favoured by 2.35-2.55 goals. This means if you “buy” you would need Chelsea to win by at least three goals to make a profit. If you “sell” you would need either a Pafos win, a draw or a Chelsea win by two goals of fewer to make a profit.
Our popular “Total Goals” market is currently set at 3.7-3.9. This is for the total number of goals scored in the match by both teams. If you’re expecting a high-scoring game, you can “buy” on this market. You would then need at least four goals in the game to turn a profit, with this winning 0.1x your stake, a five-goal game winning 1.1x your stake, and so on. However, if there were three goals or fewer in the match, you would lose money, with a goalless draw losing you 3.9x your stake.
If you expect a lower-scoring affair, you would “sell”. In this case, you would need fewer than three goals to turn a profit. A 0-0 draw would win you 3.7 times your stake if you sold, but if we saw a high-scoring 4-3 result, you would lose 3.3 times your stake.
