Chelsea are going through one of their most difficult spells of the season, having lost their last four matches across all competitions. That poor run has seen them knocked out of the Champions League by PSG and has also put their hopes of qualifying for next season’s competition in serious doubt, with the club currently sitting sixth in the table.
Liam Rosenior will be hoping to relieve some of the growing pressure by targeting the last remaining piece of silverware available to his side, the FA Cup. They face a favourable home tie against lower-league Port Vale on Saturday. The question now is whether Chelsea can return to winning form, or if Port Vale will pile even more pressure on Rosenior with a shock result.

The FA Cup has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for Port Vale, who currently sit rock bottom of League One. They are 14 points adrift of safety, and with so few games remaining, their hopes of survival are all but over—placing even greater importance on Saturday’s cup tie.
Vale have already pulled off impressive results against higher-league opposition, defeating both Bristol City and Sunderland during their FA Cup run. However, they now face their toughest challenge yet as they come up against eight-time winners Chelsea.

Chelsea are the heavy favourites heading into this game and are priced at 1/28 to get the victory on Spreadex’s fixed odds market (1/33 on our 2 Up early payout Match Odds market) whilst visitors Port Vale are priced at 25/1 to get the win (20/1 on our 2 Up early payout Match Odds market) and the draw priced at 18/1.
Port Vale are the lowest scorers in League One this season. With Chelsea being such heavy favourites and also being the hosts for the lower league Port Vale, Chelsea To Win To Nil at 8/13 may be a market to keep an eye on.
Our football spread betting prices have Chelsea as the heavy favourites with a Goal Supremacy quote of Chelsea/Port Vale 3.15 – 3.45. This means a 'buy' bet at 3.45 would need a Chelsea four goal win to start turning a profit (e.g. four goal win would win 0.55x your stake, five goal win would win 1.55x your stake etc.).
A 3.15 'sell' bet would need a three goal Chelsea win (or less), draw or Port Vale win to turn a profit (e.g. three goal Chelsea win would win 0.15x your stake, two goal win 1.15x your stake and a one goal win would win 2.15x your stake etc.).
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 4.25 – 4.55. So a 4.55 'buy' bet would need at least five goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a ‘4.25’ sell bet would need four goals or less to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 4.55 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 4.55x your stake if the match ended 0-0. In the 3.45 'buy' Supremacy bet example above, if the game ended in a draw you would lose 3.45x your stake, if the game ended in a Port Vale one goal win then it would lose 4.45x your stake etc. And in the 3.15 'sell' Supremacy example above, the bet would lose 0.85x your stake on a four goal Chelsea win and 1.85x your stake on a five goal Chelsea win etc.
Price Boosts are typically available on the Spreadex website the day before the game, so it’s worth checking back closer to kick-off for enhanced odds. In addition, Spreadex also features ‘Popular Bet-Builders’, specially curated by their in-house pricing team to highlight fan-favourite betting combinations.
Port Vale have shipped goals for fun this season and conceded in the 90th minute in their last outing. This time round the spread for the Last Match Goal spread betting market is 74-77 meaning a repeat of late action would win 13x your stake on a ‘buy’ at 77..
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. So for example if the Last Match Goal was scored in the 50th minute, a ‘buy’ at 77 would lose 27x times your stake.
