Leeds United v Burnley Betting Form?

As the Premier League season rolled into May, most Leeds fans expected to be looking forward to another season of Premier League football. Back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Wolves came before a last-gasp point on the road at Bournemouth, which took the Peacocks to the magic 40-point mark.

However, wins for Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham last weekend has kept the fans on their toes and they will be expecting their side to collect three points against relegated Burnley on Friday to all but secure top flight safety.

A potential spanner has been thrown in the works as Burnley parted ways with Scott Parker on Thursday morning, with Mike Jackson stepping into the hotseat until the end of the season. It is the second match in succession Leeds will face a caretaker manager in his first game in charge after they were dumped out of the FA Cup against Chelsea at the weekend. Everyone connected with the Whites will be hoping for a vastly different outcome this time around.

Travelling Burnley fans must be wondering what the point of it all is. It is the third time in a row that they have gone down at the first time of asking and it has been a dismal season for the away support. The hardy bunch have seen just two wins on their travels in the league, with the most recent a 3-2 victory down at Crystal Palace in early February. Four defeats on the spin with relegation confirmed doesn’t bode well for Friday, but Burnley would love to bloody the nose of the side that pipped them to the Championship title on the final day of last season.

In terms of the team news, Gabi Gudmundsson will be a big loss for Leeds’ attacking impetus down the left-hand side, with Noah Okafor also a doubt for the fixture. Jaka Bijol picked up an injury against Chelsea which could see Sebastiaan Bornauw recalled to the side. Burnley’s three long-term absentees Josh Cullen, Jordan Beyer, and Connor Roberts are all still sidelined, but it would be a boost if they can get Hannibal Mejbri into the squad. The former Manchester United man relishes this fixture and tempers can flare, with the Tunisian given a four-match ban earlier this season for spitting into the Leeds end at Turf Moor.
