A 1.4 ‘sell’ bet would need either a Manchester City win by one goal, a draw, or Brighton to win to turn a profit (e.g. a one goal Manchester City win would win 0.4x your stake, a draw would win 1.4× your stake, and a Brighton win by one goal would win 2.4× your stake, etc.).

Our spread betting Total Goals line is 3.45–3.65. This means a 3.65 ‘buy’ bet would need at least four goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 3.45 ‘sell’ bet would need three goals or fewer to be scored in the match to turn a profit.

Four of the last six fixtures at the Etihad have seen a minimum of three goals scored. On the flip side, only two of the last five games for both Manchester City and Brighton have seen at least three goals scored.

Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. For example, a 3.65 ‘buy’ Total Goals bet would lose 3.65× your stake if the match ended 0–0.
