Manchester City face Newcastle for the fourth time this season, and the third time this calendar year. Most recently City overcame Newcastle in the EFL Cup semi-final with a 2-0 away win, followed up by a 3-1 home win for a 5-1 victory on aggregate. However, in the reverse league fixture at St James Park it was Newcastle who came out victorious. City have found some form again and the gap to league leaders Arsenal is now down to four points. Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking to take advantage of a tired Newcastle side, who have this fixture sandwiched between Champions League knockout fixtures.

Before the Premier League fixture against Manchester City, the Magpies have to travel to Qarabag on Wednesday night for their first leg of the Champions League knockout round. Eddie Howe would have been hoping for a more favourable run of fixtures, but depending on the result at Qarabag, he may need to rotate his team selection for Saturday’s clash. Can Newcastle find the right balance and win this weekend?

Manchester City are favourites for this fixture at 2/5 in both our regular market and 2 up early payout market, which pays out if your team goes up by two goals.
Newcastle United haven’t beaten Manchester City in the league at the Etihad Stadium, with their last triumphant trip away to City in the league coming at Main Road back in 2000. The Geordies are 24/5, or 4/1 in our 2 up market, to take home all three points. In their last 21 league meetings where City have played at home, the Cityzens have been victorious on 19 occasions, with the other 2 being draws. You can back this one to end in a draw at 17/4.

Our football spread betting prices have the Goal Supremacy as Man City / Newcastle at 1.25–1.45. This means a ‘buy’ bet at 1.45 would need Manchester City to win by two goals in order to start turning a profit (e.g. a two-goal win would win 0.55× your stake, a three-goal win 1.55× your stake, a four-goal win 2.55× your stake, etc.).
A 1.25 ‘sell’ bet would need either a Manchester City win by one goal, a draw, or Newcastle to win to turn a profit (e.g. a one-goal Manchester City win would win 0.25× your stake, a draw would win 1.25× your stake, and a Newcastle win by one goal would win 2.25× your stake, etc.).
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 3.5–3.7. This means a 3.7 ‘buy’ bet would need at least four goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 3.5 ‘sell’ bet would need three goals or fewer to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. For example, a 3.7 ‘buy’ Total Goals bet would lose 3.7× your stake if the match ended 0–0, so it’s important to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.
