A first European tie in 127 years of history beckons for Bournemouth as they head to northern Spain for a clash with Real Sociedad. The Spanish side are back at this level following a one year hiatus and they will be hoping that experience at this level helps them get past the Cherries.
Beaten 3-0 by Atletico Madrid at the weekend, Real sit 12th in La Liga with two wins, one draw, and three defeats from their opening six matches. However, they are certainly no mugs, and Pellegrino Matarazzo has set his side the aim of finishing in the top eight to progress straight through to the round of 16.
In Mikel Oyarzabal, Takefusa Kubo, and Goncalo Guedes, they have a formindale attacking trio, and at the back La Masia product Hector Fort could make his first start for the Basque side. There are no fresh injury worries for Marco Rose, who could stick with his favoured 11 for the trip to Spain. The German manager guided Red Bull Salzburg to the semi finals of this competition eight years ago and has won 17 of his 24 matches at this level.

Despite making their European bow, Bournemouth are the 5/4 favourites ahead of this clash, with Sociedad 2/1 and the draw priced up at 13/5. Rose’s side have only kept one clean sheet so far this season, in a 4-0 rout over Lincoln in the EFL Cup, and our traders clearly fancy there to be goals in the Basque Country. Both teams to score can be backed at 1/2, with an away win and both teams to score priced at 11/4.
In our boosted bets, Welsh schemer David Brooks is 4/1 from 10/3 to register an assist, whilst Marcus Tavernier, who was linked with a move away in the summer, is 22/1 from 16/1 to score two or more goals this evening. For the hosts, Austrian-born Croatia international Luka Sucic has two goals from six league appearances this season and he is 19/4 from 15/4 to have two or more shots on target.

A lot has been made over the last year about how reliant sides in the Premier League have been on set pieces. It may be a cliché, but Bournemouth will be looking to them against a Spanish side who play a very different style of football. Headed Goal Minutes across the game can be traded at 25-28, whilst the Bournemouth Goals spread is 1.6-1.8.
