Saudi Arabia will be hoping for another fast start to a World Cup, after beating eventual champions Argentina in their opening match four years ago. However, despite this win, the Green Falcons were unable to progress from the group stage, something they haven’t been able to do since their debut in 1994. Manager Georgios Donis was only appointed in April this year, so his side will need to get up to speed quickly if they are to have success this summer. With Saudi Arabia set to host the 2034 World Cup, fans will be hoping to see some improvement on previous years.

Two-time champions Uruguay will also be looking for a fast start. Marcelo Bielsa’s side face tournament heavyweights Spain in their final group game, so securing qualification with two wins in their opening two matches would be ideal. Uruguay reached the semi-finals in 2010, and the quarter-finals in 2018, but failed to reach the knockout stage for the first time in two decades in Qatar. They will be hoping for a stronger showing this summer, starting with a win on Monday.

We also offer a number of spread betting markets for this clash, including our Goal Supremacy market. This market currently has Uruguay favoured by 1.25-1.45 goals. This means that if you placed a “buy” bet, you would need Uruguay to win by at least two goals to start turning a profit. A two-goal victory for Uruguay would win you 0.55 times your stake, a three-goal win 1.55 times your stake, and so on.
However, if you bought and Uruguay drew, lost, or only won by one you would lose money. Here, a one-goal loss would cost you 2.45 times your stake, a three-goal loss 3.45 times your stake, etc.
You can also bet on the total number of goals scored during the game with our Total Goals market. This is currently set at 2.6-2.8. If you’re expecting a high-scoring game, you would “buy” and would need at least three total goals to turn a profit. Alternatively, if you expect a low-scoring affair, you could “sell” and would need two goals or fewer to turn a profit.
If you sold and the game ended 1-0, you would win 1.6 times your stake. However, if you sold and the game ended in 4-2, you would lose 3.4 times your stake. It’s important to remember that when spread betting, if your bet loses, you can lose multiples of your stake, so be sure to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.
