Financial Trading & Operations Manager
Matt Allen leads the financial dealing desk at Spreadex, overseeing trading and operations across equities, indices, commodities and FX. He heads a team of traders and dealers responsible for pricing, risk management and execution on Spreadex's spread betting and CFD markets.
Matt joined Spreadex in 2020, stepping onto the desk during the pandemic — a period of extraordinary market volatility that proved a demanding but formative environment for a trading operation. He holds a Master's in Financial Analysis from London Business School.
His work spans the full breadth of a modern derivatives desk: managing market and options risk, setting margin and exposure frameworks, handling corporate actions, and ensuring the desk operates within FCA conduct requirements. That mix of hands-on trading and regulatory operations gives him a practical view of how leveraged markets actually behave — and, just as importantly, where retail traders most often come unstuck.
For the Spreadex Education Hub, Matt writes on risk and money management, margin and leverage, market mechanics, and the operational realities of trading that rarely make it into textbooks. His aim is to strip out the jargon and give traders the context they need to make better-informed decisions.
