Two-time champions Uruguay will be somewhat frustrated following their opening match after failing to get all three points against Saudi Arabia. Marcelo Bielsa’s side were down for the majority of the game despite dominating possession and creating several good chances. Now they face a potentially must-win game against Cape Verde, with heavyweights Spain scheduled for their final group match.

Cape Verde had a match to remember in their World Cup debut, holding Spain to a 0-0 draw. This was one of the biggest upsets of the opening round of group games, with Spain having been favoured by 2.65-2.85 goals. Veteran goalkeeper Vozinha has since become something of a cult hero among neutrals and Cape Verde fans alike after his standout performance in net. Can Cape Verde produce another upset against Uruguay?

Uruguay are favourites in their second group game, currently priced at 2/5, both to win the match and in our 2 Up market which pays out if your team goes ahead by two goals.
Cape Verde will head to Miami as heavy underdogs once again, at 7/1 to win or at 13/2 in our 2 Up market. However, the World Cup debutants will not be intimidated, having been 25/1 in their opening match. If you expect them to get another draw in this one, you can back the two sides to be all square after 90 minutes at 16/5.

We also offer a number of spread betting markets for Sunday’s match, including our Goal Supremacy market. This market currently has Uruguay favoured by 1.1-1.3 goals. This means that if you placed a “buy” bet, you would need Uruguay to win by at least two goals to start turning a profit. A two-goal victory for Uruguay would win you 0.7 times your stake, a three-goal win 1.7 times your stake, and so on.
However, if you bought and Uruguay drew, lost, or won by only one, you would lose money. Here, a one-goal loss for Uruguay would cost you 2.3 times your stake, whilst a draw would cost you 1.3 times your stake.
You can also bet on the total number of goals scored during the game with our Total Goals market. This is currently set at 2.3-2.5. If you’re expecting a high-scoring game, you would “buy” and would need at least three total goals to turn a profit. Alternatively, if you expect a low-scoring affair, you could “sell” and would need two goals or fewer to turn a profit.
If you sold and the game ended 1-0, you would win 1.3 times your stake. However, if you sold and the game ended 4-2, you would lose 3.7 times your stake. It’s important to remember that when spread betting, if your bet loses, you can lose multiples of your stake, so be sure to choose appropriate stake sizes for each market.
