Promotion from the Premier League isn’t supposed to be this easy. Two matchweeks into the season and Hull City sit joint top of the league alongside Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea, with wins over Manchester United and Coventry City sending Humberside into a frenzy.
The Tigers will get mauled at some point this season and they face another tough test this weekend with Aston Villa crossing the Humber on Saturday evening. With 18 players signed and over £150m spent in the transfer window, Hull were active right up until deadline day, with Robinio Vaz, Sorba Thomas, Tim Iroegbunam, Ilyas Ansah, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, and Christos Mouzakitis all signing up for Sergej Jakriovic’s side.
Aston Villa were another side who were busy in the transfer market, but in contrast to Hull, they have lost both of their opening Premier League matches without scoring a single goal. A squad refresh was always likely to come at some point for Villa, but Unai Emery will have been disappointed to lose so many key players from recent seasons. A 4-0 humiliation on the opening weekend was followed up with a 1-0 loss against Arsenal on Monday. They will head north this weekend expecting to kickstart their season.

Hull’s decent start to the season, coupled with Aston Villa’s woes have put a bit of juice in the price for Emery’s side this weekend and an away win can be backed at 17/20. The Tigers are 3/1 to make it three wins on the spin and the draw is 13/5.
In our goals markets, over/under 2.5 can’t be split with 20/23 on offer about either side and you can back both teams to score at 8/11. A Hull win to nil, continuing the theme of the season so far, can be backed at a hefty 11/2.
Finally, Nicolas Jackson is the new man up top for the Villains and he is 24/5 to score first this weekend and 31/20 to score anytime after drawing a blank on debut against Arsenal.
