Daily Spread Betting Round-up
The first day of the Football League season is always an exciting one, and fans turned out in their thousands for one of the great days in the English sporting calendar. Naturally, there was plenty of football betting interest and we have ran through the results to find three big winning bets.
Starting with cricket though, and one of the biggest shocks in international cricket history occurred over the weekend as Bangladesh thumped Australia in Darwin. The Aussies, ranked as the number one Test playing nation, were as short as 1/50 to win the Test at one point, but Bangladesh started the match well and kept the pressure on to inflict one of the most embarrassing defeats in Australian sporting history.
Having won the toss and opted to bat, Pat Cummins was indebted to Steve Smith’s knock of 71 which helped Australia limp to a total of 198. In response though, the Tigers roared, with opener Tanzid Hasan scoring his maiden Test century. Eventually, the tourists reached a total of 426 from their first innings, with a lead of 228 in the bank.
Before play, the First Innings Supremacy was 175-195 in Australia’s favour, but with the market settling at -228, sellers won a whopping 403x their stake.
If the Community Shield is a sign of things to come, Arsenal fans can be very excited. Taking just one minute to carve open Manchester City, the second favourites for the title this season, they were superb as they ran out 3-0 winners in Cardiff.
Myles Lewis-Skelly, subject to plenty of speculation around his Arsenal future, played a stunning reverse pass to Riccardo Calafiori, who sat down compatriot Gianluigi Donnarumma to get the party started.
Yesterday’s result has seen Arsenal punted into 6/5 in our Premier League outright odds, with City now 3/1 to bring the title back north. As for punters yesterday, sellers on the Arsenal 1st Goal Minute spread at 50-53 were rewarded with a maximum win of 49x their stake.
Watford began their season with a win over Southampton at Vicarage Road yesterday. With Southampton marooned on minus points following their spygate scandal, Tonda Eckert would have loved to get back towards zero as soon as possible.
However, it was Watford who took the points in a bad-tempered match that kept referee Matthew Donohue busy. Hector Kyprianou set the tone early with a crunching challenge on Leo Scienza and the Saints schemer was in the wars a few minutes later when Mattie Pollock left one on him.
With five bookings in the first half, and four after the break, Multi-Bookings settled at a whopping 2000. Before kick-off you could buy or sell this spread at 395-485, with buyers winning a massive 1515x their stake.
